Actor Mushtaq Khan, renowned for his role in Akshay Kumar's 'Welcome', recently opened up about a terrifying kidnapping ordeal. The incident occurred on November 20, when Khan was allegedly lured with an invitation to an award show in Meerut. Speaking to India Today Digital, his business partner Shivam Yadav detailed how the actor was deceived into boarding a car that ultimately took him far from Delhi.

Mushtaq Khan was reportedly invited to the event with flight tickets and an advance payment sent to his account. However, upon arriving in Delhi, he was driven to a secluded area near Bijnor, where he was held captive for nearly 12 hours. The kidnappers tortured him and demanded a ransom of Rs 1 crore. Ultimately, they managed to extort Rs 2 lakh from Khan’s and his son’s bank accounts before the ordeal ended.
Shivam shared that Mushtaq Khan managed to escape upon hearing the morning azaan. Realising a mosque was nearby, he took the chance to run from his captors and sought help from the locals. With their support and assistance from the police, Khan safely returned home.
Mushtaq Khan returns safely
“Mushtaq sir and his family were completely shaken over what happened to him. However, he was always sure that he would file an FIR after he composed himself. Yesterday, I went to Bijnor and filed an official FIR. We have proof of the flight ticket, the bank accounts, and even CCTV footage near the airport. He also recognises the neighborhood, even the house where he was kept. I think the police team will surely catch the culprits soon," Shivam said.
The abduction closely mirrors a recent case involving comedian Sunil Pal, who was similarly lured to an event and subsequently kidnapped. These incidents have sparked concerns about a possible syndicate targeting celebrities under the pretense of event invitations to carry out extortion.
Shivam added, “We had no clue about the case. After Mushtaq sir returned, we spoke about the incident with a few of our close friends. When Sunil’s case was highlighted in the media, they informed us about the same. It is shocking that two public figures from the industry had to go through a similar ordeal. We hope there is awareness and protection in the future for everyone."
