New Delhi: The highly anticipated horror comedy ‘Bhooth Bangla’, starring Bollywood superstar Akshay Kumar and helmed by the legendary Priyadarshan, has officially begun filming. With three A-list actresses joining Akshay Kumar as a magician, the film is sure to be an exciting journey when it releases on April 2, 2026.
The reunion of Akshay and Priyadarshan, who have worked together for the last four films, has fans quite excited, particularly considering the fourteen-year hiatus between the two. Fans are anticipating great things from the pair's newest project after their successful past work on ‘Khatta Meetha’, ‘De Dana Dan’, ‘Bhool Bhulaiyaa’ and ‘Bhagam Bhag’.
Sharing the poster of ‘Bhooth Bangla’, Akshay Kumar expressed his enthusiasm on Instagram. He wrote, “Beyond excited to be on set with my favourite @priyadarshan.official as we begin the shoot of our horror comedy #BhoothBangla today. Yeh darr aur hasi ka double dose aapke liye ready hoga 2nd April, 2026 ko! Tab tak ke liye aapke best wishes chahiye.”

Shobha and Ektaa Kapoor's Balaji Telefilms, in partnership with Cape of Good Films, is producing ‘Bhooth Bangla’, which is said to be the first Bollywood film to combine horror with humour in such a unique manner.
Vedant Baali and Faara Sheikh are co-producers of the movie. Akash A. Kaushik wrote the plot, while Rohan Shankar, Abilash Nair, and Priyadarshan wrote the script. The release date of 'Bhooth Bangla' is set for April 2, 2026.

Priyadarshan Talks Reunion with Akshay Kumar
Director Priyadarshan, who hasn't worked with the Bollywood actor in 14 years, has expressed his delight about working with him again. He spoke on their previous partnerships with PTI, stating, “Every film I’ve made with him has been a super hit. People say that you are the reason Akshay (does comedy), but I don’t believe in all those things. What I did was exploit his sense of humour (on screen). We are working after 14 years and I hope things will work. It’s a challenge. We can’t match the expectations (of the audience) but I’m trying my best.”
