New Delhi: Tamil actor Vishal has made some serious accusations against the CBFC (Central Bureau of Film Certification) officials in Mumbai. He accused them of taking a Rs. 6.5 lakh bribe in exchange for approving his latest movie, Mark Antony, as a U/A. On Thursday the actor dropped a video on his social media handle 'X' where he made some serious allegations. In the video, he pleaded with the chief minister of Maharashtra, Eknath Shinde, and the prime minister of India, Narendra Modi.
Vishal disclosed the cost of the Hindi version of Mark Antony to be Rs 6.5 lakh, broken down into two payments of Rs 3 lakh for the screening and Rs 3.5 lakh for the certificate, in a post he made on the X social networking site. He wrote, "Had no option but to pay the concerned mediator #Menaga coz too much at stake since movie released today. Bringing this to the notice of Hon Chief Minister of Maharashtra and my Hon PM Narendra Modiji. Doing this is not for me but for future producers. NOT HAPPENING. My hard earned money gone for corruption ??? No way. Evidence down for all to hear. Hope truth prevails as always."
The allegations have caused an uproar on social media. Concerns have been raised about the future of major Indian productions if films like ‘Mark Antony’ spend INR 6.5 lakhs for a censor certificate.
