New Delhi: ‘Gadar 2’ director Anil Sharma spoke candidly about Priyanka Chopra in a recent interview. The director reminisced about her when she was going to make her Bollywood debut in ‘The Hero: Love Story of a Spy’. Anil Sharma said that he signed Priyanka but then went away and upon his return did not recognised her. Anil further elaborated by saying that she looked "terrible" following the nose surgery. Anil Sharma also said that the actress was dropped from many films after having the surgery.

According to Anil Sharma, Priyanka Chopra had a terrible time after her nose operation but he supported her through it. He told Bollywood Thikana, "I left for a trip to America and Europe after Gadar was released, and I returned after two months and found out that Priyanka had gotten an operation on her nose because she wanted to look like Julia Roberts. This is what I read in the papers, and I wondered why she’d do something like this; she was already good-looking."

He recalled, "She looked terrible, she was so dark, what in the world had she done to herself. I summoned her immediately, and she came over the next day with her mother."

The director eventually called her to his office. Chopra's mother, Madhu Chopra, accompanied her to his office, where she broke down in tears. He said that the scar beneath Priyanka’s nose is still there. Anil Sharma went ahead with Priyanka and had a well-known makeup artist conceal her scars.

The actress was on the point of quitting Bollywood. "Priyanka was depressed. She had decided to return to Bareilly and return after some months, and was offering her signing amount back to me", Anil said.

The director has also gushed over the actress, praising her work ethic and dedication to her craft.
