After Juhi Parmar, Sona Mohapatra Criticises 'Barbie': ‘Can’t Believe I Subjected Myself To Unbearable, Terrible Barbie’

Singer Sona Mohapatra on Tuesday took to Twitter to express her disappointment over Greta Gerwig’s film, 'Barbie'. She said she regrets opting for the film to watch in the theatre.

New Delhi: Greta Gerwig’s film, 'Barbie', starring Ryan Gosling and Margot Robbie, is currently running in theatres and has received mixed responses from the critics and audience. Singer Sona Mohapatra on Tuesday took to Twitter to express her disappointment over the film. She said she regrets opting for the film to watch in the theatre.

Sona wrote on Twitter, “Can’t believe I went to a theatre after eons & subjected myself to an unbearable, terrible #Barbie . That there were a bunch of desi Barbies talking loudly through the film was additional torture. Only redeeming factor was the well appointed ,lux 40 odd seater cinema in Jio Drive.”

Sona is not the only celebrity who is unhappy with the film. Earlier on Monday, television actor Juhi Parma posted a lengthy note on Instagram to criticise the movie. In an open letter, she blasted the creators and said that she was out of the movie hall in about 10-15 minutes.

Barbie is a PG-13-rated film, while Juhi’s daughter is 10 years old. She admitted that it was her fault that she didn't check the rating before taking her daughter but still felt the language in the movie was inappropriate for kids above 13 years.

She criticised the makers for ruining "the perfect illusion" of barbies. Juhi Parmar’s post reads, “I start with owning up to my mistake, I took my 10-year-old daughter Samairra to watch your film without researching the fact that it was a "PG-13" movie. 10 minutes into the movie, inappropriate language, sexual connotations and I was anxiously running out of the theater wondering what had I just exposed my child to. She had been waiting to watch your film and here I was just shocked, disappointed and heartbroken with what I had just exposed her to.”

Meanwhile, 'Barbie' is doing wonders at the international box office and has left behind Christopher Nolan’s 'Oppenheimer', while in India, Cillian Murphy starrer is the audience favourite and Barbie is trailing behind.
