Shilpa Saklani Talks About Being Obsessed With Her Daughter, Says 'Sab Sochte Hai Main Pagal Hu'

Shilpa Saklani says she used to pray to have a daughter just like her husband Apurva Agnihotri.

New Delhi: Shilpa Saklani, known for her roles in popular Indian television shows, recently shared a heartfelt glimpse into her personal life as she opened up about her profound connection with her daughter. Apurva Agnihotri and Shilpa Saklani were blessed with a baby girl in 2022, after being married for 18 years. Shilpa was featured in Rubina Dilaik's chat show 'The Motherhood Journey' where she talked about ‘child care and safety of kids'.

In a candid chat, actress Shilpa Saklani delved into her experiences of motherhood. She revealed her obsession and a sense of devotion towards her daughter.

Shilpa revealed that it was her dream to get married. She shared, "When I was about 13-14 years old, I told myself that when I turned 21, I would get married. I manifested so strongly."

She added, "My identity is that I am Shilpa Agnihotri. Yes, my identity is not that I am an actor, I don't care about those things. Doesn't matter at all. I crave and care to be a homemaker.”

The actress continued, “I planned my life in my head that I would get married at 21 and we'd have fun for three to four years. Then we'll have a baby girl by the way. There was absolute clarity that God, please give me a daughter, if you give me a son then it will be great. But, I want a daughter who would look just like my husband. This used to be my prayer to God every morning.”

Shilpa said, “I believe it's karma. It happened a little late, 18 years. But the biggest miracle of my life came in my arms. Today my daughter my Ishani Kanu Agnihotri is 17 months old.”

She also explained the meaning of Ishani saying it’s “Ishani is Parvati and Saraswati because we both are believers of Mother Goddess. I truly believe there is no human being happier than me in this world and we see that every day.”

There was a very short period that was very dark for me because we tried so much but nothing was happening. That’s when I told myself, God gave me everything as a gift. Apoorva's Xerox copy will surely come. God will decide when she comes and here she is today and I never thought I could be happier.”

She also added, “I get so excited every day after seeing my daughter. The day before yesterday I was sitting and looking at her and I was crying, saying how lovely you are. She’s leaning and looking at me She's just giving me that smile ‘Momma you're crazy man’. But that's what motherhood to me is.”

Talking about her family’s reaction to her obsessive nature towards her daughter, Shilpa said, “Meri family me sab sochte hain ki main pagal hu. Completely crazy. Meri maa mujhe bolti hai tu aur pagal ho gayi hai beti ke aane ke baad.”
