Shatrughan Sinha Says His Family Subjected To 'Smear Campaign' Over Luv Sinha's Absence At Sonakshi's Wedding

Veteran actor Shatrughan Sinha has addressed his son Luv Sinha's reasons for missing Sonakshi Sinha and Zaheer Iqbal's marriage on June 23.

Sonakshi Sinha and Zaheer Iqbal got married on June 23 at Sonakshi’s residence in Mumbai followed by a reception in the evening. Sonakshi’s brother Luv skipped the wedding and later gave the reason for giving it a miss. Now veteran actor Shatrughan Sinha has addressed his son’s reasons for missing the event. In a recent interview, Shatrughan Sinha discussed his family's resilience and the challenges they have faced, adding that this situation was minor compared to past crises.

Shatrughan Sinha on alleged family differences

In an interview with Times Now, Shatrughan Sinha remarked, “Bahaut bade bade crises dekhe hain humne. Aur yeh toh kuch bhi nahin (We have seen many big crises. This is nothing).” Addressing the alleged family differences, he added, “There was absolutely nothing to worry about. We were like any ordinary family with a wedding happening. Just why we became a target of so much attention, you will know better than me.” He continued, “We didn’t ask for it. This is not the first time that such a marriage (interfaith) was happening. Our family was subjected to the most vicious smear campaign.” Shatrughan Sinha also issued a warning to critics, stating, “Let me make this clear. I won’t tolerate my family being attacked.”

Shatrughan Sinha on Luv missing the wedding

Commenting on Luv’s absence from the wedding, Shatrughan Sinha stressed that certain issues should remain private. “Family matters should stay within the family. Like I said, kaun se parivar mein disagreements nahi hote? (Which family does not have disagreements?) We may disagree and argue on certain issues. But at the end of the day, we are one family. And no one can break us,” he told Times Now.

Why Luv missed the wedding

A few days earlier, Luv Sinha had taken to X (formerly Twitter) to explain his absence. He wrote, “Why I chose not to attend. Running an online campaign against me on a false premise won’t change the fact that for me my family will always come first.” He continued, “The reasons are very clear as to why I didn’t attend, and would not associate with some people no matter what. I’m glad a member of the media did their research instead of relying on creative stories being put out by a PR team.”

Before getting married, Sonakshi and Zaheer had been in a relationship for over seven years.
