New Delhi: Ghazal maestro Pankaj Udhas passed away on February 26 after a prolonged illness. The singer breathed his last at Breach Candy Hospital in Mumbai. Tributes started pouring for the veteran singer from all quarters, as soon as his death news became public.
Singer Sonu Nigam took to his social media and offered his condolences to the family. The singer wrote, " One of the most important part of my childhood, is lost today. Shri Pankaj Udhas ji, I will miss you forever. My heart cries knowing that you are no more. Thank you for being there. Om Shanti.”

On Monday, the singer's family released a statement confirming the death of the ghazal maestro. The statement read: "With a very heavy heart, we are saddened to inform you of the sad demise of Padmashri Pankaj Udhas on 26th February due to a prolonged illness. Udhas family."
The singer's last rites will be performed on Tuesday (February 27).
