'I Was Pregnant...': Madhuri Dixit Shares Why She Turned Down Hollywood Offers In The Early 2000s

Madhuri Dixit recently shared why she chose not to pursue Hollywood projects in the early 2000s, despite receiving offers during that time.

New Delhi: The 1990s were Madhuri Dixit's most successful decade in Bollywood, when she played several memorable parts. But she shifted her attention away from Hindi cinema after moving to the US and getting married to cardiovascular surgeon Dr. Shriram Nene in 1999. The legendary Hindi cinema actress recently discussed the reasons she turned down opportunities to work in Hollywood in the early 2000s.

While offers did come her way, Madhuri Dixit turned them down during her second pregnancy. In an interview with News18, she shared, “Well, there were one or two opportunities that came my way, but I was pregnant with my second child at that time. I didn’t want to work when I was pregnant. That’s why I had said no.”

According to Madhuri Dixit, who is happy with her position in Bollywood, she does not feel compelled to look for a film in Hollywood. “I was so involved in making a family and living that life, which was also a part of my dreams. I didn’t really think about doing a Hollywood film. I’m happy doing what I’m doing here. And Indian films, anyway, are watched all over the world,” she said.
