Laila Khan Murder Case: Mumbai Court Pronounces Death Penalty To Step Father Parvez Tak

Parvez Tak is sentenced to death for the 2011 murder of actress Laila Khan and her family.

New Delhi: On Friday, a sessions court handed the death penalty to Pervez Tak, the stepfather of actress Laila Khan, for the murder of Laila and five members of her family in February 2011. The gruesome case, which took 14 years to reach a verdict, has finally seen justice served.

Pervez Tak is a resident of Kashmir and the third husband of Laila's mother, Shelina. After a dispute over Selina's property, the prosecution claimed that Tak murdered her, Laila and her four siblings.

Tak was arrested on July 8, 2012. He was found guilty of killing Laila, 30, her elder sister Azmina, 32, twin siblings Zara and Imran, 25, cousin Reshma, and Shelina, 51. The family had gone missing from Mumbai in February 2011.

The actress, her mother, and her four siblings died in February 2011 in their house in Igatpuri, Nashik, Maharashtra.

The murders were revealed a few months later when the Jammu and Kashmir police caught Tak, who had a history of criminal activity. Later, the victims' decomposing remains were recovered from the residence.
