Javed Akhtar Claims 'There's No Nepotism' In 'The Archies' Casting Of Suhana Khan, Khushi Kapoor & Agastya Nanda
According to Javed Akhtar, even though there is a lot of discussion about nepotism in the film industry, it can't exist here.
New Delhi: A film by Zoya Akhtar 'The Archies' will soon be streaming on Netflix. Filmmakers Zoya Akhtar and Reema Kagti are getting ready to debut their new movie with SRK’s daughter Suhana Khan, grandson of Amitabh Bachchan, Agastya Nanda, and daughter of Boney Kapoor, Khushi Kapoor. The young talents are all set to make their acting debut in this project. The casting of the film reignited a discussion about favouritism and nepotism in Bollywood. Recently, at Sahitya Aajtak 2023, Javed Akhtar spoke on this same topic.
Filmmaker and screenwriter Javed Akhtar recently discussed the casting of daughter Zoya Akhtar’s upcoming film ‘The Archies’ during an interview on the third day of Sahitya Aajtak 2023. He said, “She has all the right to take anybody under the sun, she shouldn’t be questioned. She is taking the risk, it is her project and she is backing it.”

Javed continued by saying that when a director makes a movie, they are putting their own money on the line and taking personal risks. Since they do not involve the government or the money of any industrialists, they have the freedom to cast anybody they like without fear of being questioned about it.
Javed said in Hindi, “Film industry ke baare mein baat hoti rehti hain nepotism ki. Nepotism film industry mein ho hi nahi sakta. Duniya mein har jagah ho jaye, par yaha nahi ho sakta kyuki aadmi yaha khud risk le raha hai (There is always talk about nepotism in the film industry. Nepotism cannot happen in the film industry. It can happen everywhere in the world, but not here because people take risks.)"
‘The Archies’ has generated a lot of buzz and is set to debut on Netflix on December 7, 2023.
