Actor Govinda was discharged from the hospital on Friday after being admitted due to a self-inflicted gunshot wound earlier this week. In a press conference following his discharge, the actor opened up about the incident. Govinda shared how he initially struggled to grasp what had happened. " Thoda gehra lag gaya tha, jab laga tab vishwas nahi hua. Aisa laga ke yeh kya hua?  It was a deep wound, and at first, I couldn't believe it).”

Govinda opens up about the gun accident

The incident took place on October 1 early in the morning, around 4:45 to 5:00 a.m., as Govinda was preparing to leave for Kolkata. He explained, "I was getting ready for the show… for Kolkata. It was early morning, and the revolver fell and suddenly went off. I felt a jolt, and when I looked, there was a fountain of blood.”

Despite the severity of the situation, Govinda chose not to involve anyone else in the ordeal. He explained, “I thought I should not associate this incident with anyone else and trouble them so I shot some videos and was then rushed to Dr Agarwal. He then came with us and took me to Criti Care hospital,” he added. "

Govinda on why he had a loaded revolver

When asked why he had a loaded revolver in the first place, the actor admitted to being a bit casual in his approach to things. "When we are getting ready in the morning itself feels like whatever you are doing in haste is right… Main thoda sa mast raha karta hoon (I’m a bit careless/carefree by nature), so I felt nothing was wrong. I am a bit sahaj (easy-going) I didn’t think something like this would happen. But one should be careful. I hope something like this doesn’t happen to anyone, they can learn from my incident.”

Govinda on why he owns a gun

Govinda offered a somewhat cryptic explanation for why he felt the need to carry a firearm. “Fame is a flame and you have to be aware of the flame which is around, all over the world. It is like fire when you get successful and you have to tread carefully. When you have so many people who love you there are also some who are jealous of you which is also not an issue, it comes across in the form of spardha (competition)… but I would like to say that this incident should not be attached to anyone or anything. There should be no galatfehmi (misconceptions) around.”

Dr. Ramesh Agarwal, who treated the actor following the accident, confirmed that the bullet struck just below his left knee, requiring 8 to 10 stitches.
