New Delhi: Actor Chrisann Pereira, who was arrested in Sharjah in a fake drug case in April, is back home in Mumbai after four months. She was acquitted by a court in June. As the actor landed in Mumbai, she was given a tearful welcome by her family. Her brother Kevin Pereira posted a video on social media of their reunion. She was greeted with a loving hug by her father and brother, as she cried inconsolably at the reunion after a long separation. Chrisann’s mother also brought her pet dog along.
Kevin posted the video with the caption, “Chrisann is finally back and reunited with us I know I had announced in June that she would be back but it took slightly longer and she’s finally back.”

In a conversation with Hindustan Times, Chrisann said that she is happy and relieved to be back home and also shared about her ordeal.
“It is extremely scary. I did not meet a lot of people like me. So many there already knew about drugs, drug lords, and had been there in the country for a long time. They knew more about the situation than I did. I went into a cloud of darkness, and had no idea what was going on. It was a culture shock. I was also shocked with the overall situation. I was mentally overthinking the entire situation, and trying to make sense ‘why would someone do this to me?’,”she was quoted as saying by Hindustan Times.
She also shared what kept her going and how she survived through it all. “Every day I would just say ‘I have to survive today’... I would wake up with that intention. Once I spoke to my parents 17 days in, they gave me hope, and updates every single day on my case. I had people in jail I used to talk to, I would workout to keep my mental health okay in jail. I danced to no music at all, just to keep it going,” she told Hindustan Times.
Chrisann had gone to Sharjah on April 1 for some professional assignments but unwittingly became a drug mule and was caught by the Sharjah authorities in the fake narcotics case.
Consequently, Chrisann spent around three weeks in jail, but with the prompt help from Mumbai Police, she was eventually acquitted of all the charges against her.
