New Delhi: Catherine Zeta-Jones is in India with her actor husband Michael Douglas, who is currently receiving the Satyajit Ray Lifetime Achievement Award at the ongoing International Film Festival of India in Goa. She related a story about her unique bond with India and mentioned that an Indian doctor saved her life when she was just 18 months old at the press conference that Michael and Catherine attended on Monday.

The 'Mark Of Zorro' actress said at the press conference, "The story I’ve never told before is that India has touched me in a very serious personal way. It was an Indian doctor who saved my life with a tracheotomy when I was 18 months old. I wonder why when I come to India, I have this feeling of coming home, and maybe it has something to do with that. The reason I’m here is because of the brilliance of an Indian doctor in the UK.”

In addition, Catherine Zeta-Jones talked about her passion for Indian cinema and mentioned that Om Shanti Om, starring Shah Rukh Khan, is her favourite Bollywood film. Catherine responded positively to the question of whether she would want to star in an Indian movie, praising Ritesh Batra's The Lunchbox. “In fact, one of my favourite films, which is not Bollywood, is called The Lunchbox, which is one of my favourite films of all time,” she said.

Catherine claimed to have stumbled upon the movie while travelling abroad and to have seen it twice in quick succession. The actor said that she met director Ritesh Batra as soon as she landed in London after finding out through her agent that he was also in London. Catherine stated that she is eager to work with him and that she is waiting for an opportunity.

Ritesh Batra's 'The Lunchbox' starred late actor Irrfan Khan along with Nimrat Kaur and Nawazuddin Siddiqui in lead roles.
