Ayushmann, who is married to his childhood love, has previously spoken about the difficulties he had as a young actor. In a recent interview, the actor discussed how his personal life was affected after the popularity of his breakout film ‘Vicky Donor’ (2012).

While appearing on the Honestly Saying Podcast, Ayushmann was candid about the ways in which his ascent to stardom changed his priorities. He shared,  “I started very young when I took part in Pop Stars and Roadies. Coming from a middle class background, when you become a public figure, you just think you need to give your 100% to your profession. Your personal life takes a backseat. But, striking a balance is very important for family and relationships. I understood this very early on. I lost my mind after my first film.”

He continued, “I think you have to tread this middle path of being content and ambitious at the same time. It is a difficult line to be in… Imbalance, failures, criticisms… once you face that, one realises the balance. It is not easy to detach.”

A major influence on the actor's development as a person, according to the actor, was his wife Tahira. He said that Tahira was important in making him who he is now. “Now, if women are attracted to me, it is because of my wife. I have become a certain person because of her. We don’t believe in materialism. We were in theatre together. She used to write plays for us and I used to act in it. At the end, it all comes to friendship. If the two of you love spending time together, it means you are sorted," Ayushmann shared. 

Tahira and Ayushmann married in 2008 and have since created a lovely life together, raising a daughter and a son. Tahira has made a name for herself as a writer and director.
