Angelina Jolie Pays Surprise Visit To Ukraine, Meets Children & Volunteers

During her visit, Jolie met volunteers who assisted with the displaced.

New Delhi: On Saturday, Angelina Jolie, the well-known American actress and UN goodwill ambassador, paid a visit to Lviv, a city in western Ukraine. 

In an interview with the Governor of Lviv Regional State Administration Maksym Kozytskyy, Jolie said that she had come to the city to meet with displaced persons. From 2011 till the present, Jolie has served as UNHCR Special Envoy for Refugees.

During her visit, Jolie met volunteers who assisted with the displaced, who informed her that each of the psychiatrists on duty saw around 15 individuals every day. According to volunteers, many of those at the station are youngsters between the ages of two and ten.

When Angelina Jolie visited Ukraine, she popped into a local cafe. A video of her signing autographs and welcoming customers at a coffee shop in Lviv has gone popular online. 

According to a tweet from Kyiv Independent, "Jolie visited injured children evacuated from Donetsk Oblast and orphans. She also met volunteers who provide medical and psychological help to Ukrainian evacuees."

Jolie, on the other hand, is hardly the first American star to go to Ukraine in the midst of the turmoil. Sean Penn, an American actor, visited Ukraine President Zelenskyy during the early days of the conflict as part of a documentary he was recording at the time. 

According to UNHCR estimates, more than 5 million Ukrainians have fled the conflict in Ukraine, which has already entered its third month, to other Western nations.
