UP Election: Congress Releases Fourth List Of 61 Names, 24 Women Candidates Given Tickets

Uttar Pradesh assembly election will be held in seven phases from February 10 to March 7.

New Delhi: The Congress on Sunday released its fourth list of 61 candidates for the Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections. Of these 61 candidates, 24 are women.

The party has given tickets to Shikha Pandey from Bilaspur, Chandni from Sri Nagar, Jitendri Devi from Dhaurahra, Vandana Bhargav from Biswan, Sudha Dwivedi from Sareni, Shakunlata Devi from Kaimganj, Archana Rathore from Bhojpur, Vineeta Devi from Kannauj, Karishma Thakur from Govindnagar.

The candidates fielded include Raj Kumari who will be contesting from Hamirpur, Pawan Devi Kori in the fray from Naraini, Hemlata Patel from Ayah Shah, Reeta Maurya from Ayodhya, Geeta Singh from Kaiserganj, Savita Pandey from Tarabganj, Kamla Sisodia from Mankapur.

Other names include Sabiha Khatoon fielded from Khalilabad, Dulari Devi from Salempur, Dr. Omlata from Rasara, Sonam Bind from Bairia, Aarti Singh from Badlapur, Geeta Devi from Marihan, and Videshwari Singh Rathore from Ghorawal.

Notably, women candidates have figured prominently in the Congress party's candidates' lists so far as General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi had committed that the party will field 40 per cent of women candidates in the Uttar Pradesh election.

Uttar Pradesh assembly election will be held in seven phases from February 10 to March 7. The polling in Uttar Pradesh will be held on February 10, 14, 20, 23, 27 and March 3 and 7. The counting of votes will take place on March 10.
