Rajasthan Election Results 2023: CM Ashok Gehlot To Tender Resignation At 5:30 PM Today

Rajasthan CM will tender his resignation at 5:30 pm today after meeting Governor Kalraj Mishra.

Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot will meet Governor Kalraj Mishra on Sunday evening and tender his resignation. Gehlot will meet the Governor at around 5:30 pm and tender his resignation, sources told ABP News. The development comes as the counting of votes is underway on 199 seats of the Rajasthan Legislative Assembly.

The counting of votes began at 8 am on Sunday morning starting with the postal ballots followed by the electronic voting machines.

According to the available counting trends at the time of writing the report, BJP was ahead with a win on 20 seats and leading on 95 others while Congress won five seats and led on 64 seats.

As the early trends set in, BJP transitioned into celebration mode. BJP leader and Union minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat said people have come out of the spell of the "magician".

Gehlot was born into a family of magicians and assisted his father during his tours.

“The 'magic' has ended and Rajasthan has come out of the spell of the magician. People have voted for the honour of women and for the welfare of the poor,” he said taking a dig at the CM and the Congress party.

“People have failed the guarantees of Congress. They have voted to throw corrupt Congress out,” Shekhawat told reporters in Jaipur.

Gehlot has been leading from his traditional seat of Sardarpura and has been pitted against BJP's Mahendra Singh Rathore.

Early trends suggest that the desert state will mainain the "revolving door" streak this year going against the prediction by the ABP News-CVoter Exit Poll survey.

In the 2018 Assembly polls, Congress emerged as the single largest party winning 99 seats and forming the government with the help of some Indepedents and limiting the Vasundhara Raje-led BJP to only 73 seats.
