Punjab Election: Congress Attempts To Counter AAP? Sidhu Announces Poll Promises For Women Voters

Punjab Election 2022: Punjab Congress President Navjot Singh Sidhu has announced that every woman would be given 2,000 per month.

Punjab Assembly Election 2022: Ahead of the Punjab assembly elections, political parties are making several promises to woo voters. After Delhi Chief Minister and Aam Aadmi Party national convener Arvind Kejriwal poll promise for women in Punjab, state Congress President Navjot Singh Sidhu has announced that if the Congress party returns to power, every woman would be given Rs 2,000 per month and eight gas cylinders in a year.

Navjot Sidhu said at a rally in Barnala that Rs 2,000 would be given every month to women in Punjab. Earlier, Arvind Kejriwal had announced to give Rs 1,000 per month to every woman in Punjab.

Perhaps in a bid to counter AAP's poll promise, Congress has made a host of such commitments to woo women voters in Punjab.

Highlights of Sidhu's announcement:

• Girls who pass Class 5 will get Rs 5, 000
• Girls who pass Class 10 will get Rs 15,000
• Girls who pass Class 12 will get Rs 20,000
• Girls will get scooty after showing the admission slip of college
• Girls who go abroad will get 1 tablet
• Loan of Rs 2 lakh would be given to women without interest for domestic work

The Punjab Congress president further said that Congress will form a women's commando battalion in every village. Two women will be included in this battalion in each village.

Besides this, he promised Rs 400 per day to farmers and labourers who have land lesser than five acres.
