Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday held a roadshow in West Bengal's Krishnanagar after unveiling development projects in the state earlier today. His supporters gathered along the roads, cheering for the prime minister with the saffron party's flags in hand while he waved at them from a hoodless vehicle during the roadshow. He was accompanied by BJP state president Sukanta Majumdar and Leader of the Opposition in the assembly, Suvendu Adhikari, in the vehicle.

Earlier in the day, the prime minister unveiled multiple development projects worth Rs 15,000 crore in the state's Nadia district. While addressing the programme, he stated that these initiatives were aimed at making Bengal a developed state. He further said that these projects will provide momentum to the state's economic growth and create job opportunities.

While addressing the rally in Krishnagar, PM Modi stated that railways have been a key part of Bengal's proud history but after independence it wasn't taken in the right direction. "It is the reason why West Bengal kept lagging. We, however, have tried to bridge that gap in the last 10 years by focusing on the rail infrastructure here," he said.

PM Modi laid the foundation stone of Damodar Valley Corporation's Raghunathpur Thermal Power Station Phase II (2x660 MW), located in the Purulia district. He also inaugurated the flue gas desulfurisation (FGD) system at Mejia Thermal Power Station, developed at Rs 650 crore.

PM Modi also inaugurated the four-laning of the 100-km-long Farakka-Raiganj section of NH-12, built at Rs 1,986 crore.

He also dedicated to the nation four rail projects worth over Rs 940 crore in the state. These included the doubling of the Bazarsau-Azimganj rail line and the Damodar-Mohishila line, the third line between Rampurhat and Murari, and a new line connecting Azimganj and Murshidabad.

On Friday, the prime minister unveiled development projects worth over Rs 7,200 crore in Hooghly district's Arambagh.
