Manish Sisodia Gets BIG Relief Ahead Of Delhi Elections, SC Says AAP Leader May Skip Weekly IO Meet

The Supreme Court has granted former Delhi Deputy CM Manish Sisodia relaxation in his bail condition, waiving the requirement to appear before investigators twice a week.

Former Deputy Chief Minister of Delhi Manish Sisodia has got relief from the Supreme Court. The court has given him relaxation in the bail condition. Till now Sisodia had to appear before the investigating officer twice a week. Now, he will not have to do so.

On August 9, the Supreme Court granted bail to Sisodia in the CBI and ED cases related to the alleged liquor scam. The court had ordered bail on the basis of the delay in starting the trial. Sisodia got the bail on two personal bonds of Rs 10 lakh. The court had also laid down the condition that he would appear before the investigating officer every Monday and Thursday between 10 AM and 11 AM.

Describing himself as a respectable leader, Manish Sisodia had requested relaxation in this condition. He said that he is always available to cooperate in the investigation and trial. So, the condition of visiting the investigating officer twice a week should be removed. On November 22, the Supreme Court sought a reply from the CBI and ED on the application.

On Wednesday, a bench of Justices BR Gavai and KV Vishwanathan agreed that it is not necessary to maintain this condition. The court said in its brief order that Sisodia no longer needs to visit the investigating officer every week. But he should be present in court regularly during the trial.

Manish Sisodia To Contest Jangpura Seat

The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has decided to move Manish Sisodia from his Patparganj constituency and field him from the Jangpura seat in the upcoming Delhi Assembly election 2025. The Patparganj constituency will be fought for by debutant Avadh Ojha, a UPSC coaching expert and recent entrant into the party.

Sisodia in a letter to his supporters said: “Patparganj is not just a seat; it symbolises a revolution of education-based politics. Its schools are not merely educational centres but laboratories for building the future. Ojha ji’s vision and dedication to education convinced me that this is an opportunity to take a significant leap in the field of education for the country,” he wrote, adding that Patparganj would always remain close to his heart."
