'Congress Busy With Loot': PM Modi Sounds LS Poll Bugle At Kharge's Home Turf

Accusing the Congress of making grand promises before elections and filing their pockets afterward, PM Modi claimed that the party treats Karnataka as a "family ATM."

Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched a scathing criticism against the Congress government in Karnataka on Saturday, accusing it of allowing the law and order situation to deteriorate and engaging in corruption while the public faces difficulties. He officially launched the party's Lok Sabha election campaign in the state, specifically in Kalaburagi, the stronghold of Congress President M. Mallikarjun Kharge. Modi asserted that the people of Karnataka have chosen to ensure BJP's victory in the state.

PM Modi said, "This crowd of people in Kalaburagi and this enthusiasm on the faces of all of you, Karnataka has resolved to make BJP win a record number of seats in the Lok Sabha elections...The election is yet to be announced and you have already announced it. Today the whole of Karnataka is saying that this time we will cross 400."

"The anger that you have towards Congress in Karnataka, I can understand. Congress is a party that despite changing their costume number of times, their misdeeds don't change. That's the reason people of Karnataka are awake and are angry towards it,"he said, as per a report on PTI.

The PM alleged that corruption is inherently linked with the Congress and added, "For these dynasts, corruption is their lifeblood; they cannot survive in politics without it." Accusing the Congress of making grand promises before elections and filing their pockets afterward, he claimed that the party treats Karnataka as a "family ATM."

According to political analysts, Karnataka is significant for the BJP in South India, as it is the only state in the region where the party has previously held power. In the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, the BJP secured 25 out of the total 28 seats in the state, underscoring its electoral strength in Karnataka.
