Lok Sabha Polls: Nomination Begins For First Phase For 102 Seats Across 21 States
The last date for filing nomination for the first phase of voting for the Lok Sabha elections 2024 will be March 27.
The nominations for the first phase of polling for the Lok Sabha elections 2024 began on Wednesday for 102 Parliamentary constituencies across 21 states and Union Territories with the issuance of notification. The first phase of voting will take place on April 19. As per the notification issued by the Election Commission of India on behalf of the President, the last date for filing nomination is March 27.
However, the last date for filing nominations for the first phase of the polls in Bihar is March 28 due to a festival. Voting will be held on 4 out of 40 Lok Sabha seats in the state during the first phase.
The scrutiny of the nominations will be done on March 28 and the candidature could be withdrawn till March 30, said the Election Commission of India adding that the votes will be counted on June 4.
Eight Parliamentary constituencies in Uttar Pradesh — Saharanpur, Kairana, Muzaffarnagar, Bijnor, Nagina (SC), Moradabad, Rampur and Pilibhit will undergo voting on April 19 in the first phase.
The Lok Sabha elections 2024 will be held in a total of seven phases starting from April 19 till June 1. The first phase of voting will be on April 19 while the remaining phases will take place on April 26, May 7, May 13, May 20, May 25, and June 1 while the votes will be counted on May 4.
The States and Union Territories that would undergo the first phase of voting include Arunachal Pradesh (2), Assam (5), Bihar (4), Chhattisgarh (1), Madhya Pradesh (6), Maharashtra (5), Manipur (2), Meghalaya (2), Mizoram (1), Nagaland (1), Rajasthan (12), Sikkiim (1), Tamil Nadu (39), Tripura (1), Uttar Pradesh (8), Uttarakhand (5), West Bengal (3), and Andaman and Nicobar Islands (1), Jammu and Kashmir (1), Lakshadweep (1), and Puducherry (1).
