Chhattisgarh: CRPF Personnel On Election Duty Gets Injured In IED Blast
The injured Assistant Commandant of the CRPF was taken to Bhairamgarh Hospital for treatment.
An Assistant Commandant of the Central Reserve Police Force was injured on Friday while on election duty near Chihka village of Bhairamgarh, said the Bijapur police. The jawan got injured when a shell of Under Barrel Grenade Launcher (UBGL) accidentally exploded and has been brought to Bhairamgarh Hospital for treatment, the police said.
As per a police official, the injured jawan belonged to CRPF's 196th battalion and was administered preliminary treatment and was being evacuated.
The incident took place near Galgam village under the Usoor police station area when a team of security personnel was out on an area domination operation around 500 metres from a polling booth, he said.
Polling is underway for the first phase of Lok Sabha polls in Bijapur district which falls under the the Naxal-hit Bastar Lok Sabha .
News agency IANS reported two jawans who got injured in the accident adding that the incident occured when a team of security personnel was out on an area domination operation on Friday.
The blast occured around 500 metres from a polling booth, as per the IANS report.
