Lok Sabha Elections 2019: Law & order, unemployment among key issues to be faced by BJP in Haryana

New Delhi: Haryana will vote for both - Parliamentary and Assembly elections this year. The ruling BJP party is set to face a tough contest from Congress and INLD, both of which will be showing alacrity after previous debacle. In 2014, Haryana which holds 10 parliamentary seats, witnessed BJP clinching the lion share of 7 seats, cornering the Congress to 1 seat, in one of the worst debacles of the grand old party in two decades. Key leaders The key faces of BJP in the state include CM Manohar Lal Khattar (BJP); Ram Bilas Sharma, Education minister (BJP), While Congress has Bhupinder Singh Hooda Congress and Randeep Singh Surjewala as prominent leaders. Abhay Singh Chautala from INLD is a key player with strong backing of the Jat community. What latest survey suggests: As per ABP News-C Voter Survey, in Haryana NDA is projected to win 7 seats out of the total 10 seats, while UPA is projected to win 3 seats. Issues : The state government's performance can come under question ahead of Lok Sabha elections. Key issues that will hold significance are unemployment numbers and the Sutlej Yamuna Link canal. Law and order will be the core issue, in particular safety of women and children, in the wake of the recent incidents of crime, that brought the government under stern criticism. Allegations of divisive policies will be used by the opposition against the ruling party. Here is a look at how the previous Lok Sabha polls have been for the political parties: 2014 Lok Sabha elections: Of 1,60,97,749 electors, the number of votes polled was 1,14,95,150, with a voter turnout of 71.4%. Parliamentary Constituencies: 10 (Gen: 8 | SC: 2) Party wise break-up of Lok Sabha seats BJP-7, INLD -2, INC-1 Vote percentage of parties: BJP- 34.8%, INC-23%, INLD-24.4 %  2009 elections: Of 1,20,87,710 electors, number of votes polled was 81,56,829 – a turnout of 67.5%. The Congress had clinched 9 of the 10 parliamentary seats, while HJCBL finished second with 1 seat. Vote percentage of parties: INC-41.8 %, INLD- 15.8%, BSP 15.7%, BJP- 12.1%, HJCBL-10% 2004 elections: Of 1,23,20,557 electors, 80,90,595 votes were polled- a turnout of 65.7% The Congress had bagged 9 of 10 seats, while BJP managed t get only 1 seat.
