Karnataka Sex Scandal: Court Adjourns Anticipatory Bail Plea Of JD (S) Leader Revanna

Revanna, son of former PM and JD (S) patriarch H D Deve Gowda, approached the court following a notice from the Special Investigation Team to investigate allegations of sexual harassment.

H D Revanna, a former Minister of Karnataka, filed for anticipatory bail in the People’s Representative Court regarding a sexual harassment case on Thursday. His son, Prajwal Revanna, is also implicated in the case. The hearing for this matter is scheduled for Friday.

When the court inquired of Revanna's counsel why he hadn't directly appeared before the relevant court despite the FIR containing bailable sections, the counsel replied that although bailable sections are mentioned, a petition has been filed with the trial court to include rape charges. However, the specifics of this submission are currently unavailable, according to a report on IANS.

Revanna, the son of former Prime Minister and JD(S) patriarch H D Deve Gowda, has approached the court following a notice from the Special Investigation Team (SIT) established by the Karnataka government to investigate allegations of sexual harassment against Prajwal Revanna, his son.

Prajwal is accused of misconduct involving women, prompting the state government to form the SIT to delve into the matter.

In recent days, numerous explicit video clips purportedly featuring the 33-year-old MP have surfaced in Hassan. He contested as the NDA candidate in the Hassan Lok Sabha constituency, where voting took place on April 26.

Following a complaint by a cook against Revanna and Prajwal, the notice was issued to them.

The Holenarasipura police filed a case against Revanna and his son Prajwal Revanna under sections 354 (A), (D), 506, and 509 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), following a complaint by a 47-year-old victim.

In a recent development, the Centre replied to Chief Minister Siddaramaiah's letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, urging the cancellation of Prajwal Revanna's diplomatic passport. Randhir Jaiswal, spokesperson for the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), informed the state government that the passport could only be revoked upon court order.
