Kangana Ranaut, contesting on a BJP ticket in Himachal Pradesh's Mandi, lauded PM Modi's popularity while accusing the Congress of being the country's "villain". She also labeled MP Rahul Gandhi as a "foreigner".

Kangana Ranaut On ABP News: In a fierce electoral battle, Actress and BJP candidate Kangana Ranaut is pitted against Congress leader Vikramaditya Singh in Himachal Pradesh's Mandi Lok Sabha constituency. This constituency, known for electing erstwhile royals multiple times, is witnessing a clash between a celebrity and a scion of the Rampur royal family.

Speaking to ABP News, Kangana Ranaut highlighted the public enthusiasm for Prime Minister Narendra Modi. "The crowd in Mandi is excited about Modi ji. He is an inspiration, especially for people from small towns. He has acquired a godly status, and people worship him... they see him as a deity with divine blessings," she remarked elabourating Modi's humble background and rise to the top post.

When asked why she joined the BJP and decided to run for Lok Sabha polls, Kangana shared, "I never wanted to be an actress. I wanted to follow my heart... I refused to work with the Khans, and I declined item numbers because I listened to my heart. I don't bind myself with ambition; I feel I should flow."

Congress Is Country's Villain, Rahul Gandhi A Foreigner: Kangana Ranaut

She was scathing in her criticism of the Congress party, stating, "Congress is the villain of the country; it has ruined an entire generation. They show love to the enemies of the nation, not to the devotees of Ram Lalla."

Referring to Congress leader Rahul Gandhi and the electoral impact of his recent Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra, Kangana said, "Congress is delusional. Rahul Gandhi has no connect... His mother managed power with so many tricks. Rahul is a foreigner and will always remain a foreigner."

Kangana Ranaut Calls Mandi Contest Against Vikramaditya Singh A 'David And Goliath' Battle

Ranaut, known for her fight against nepotism in Bollywood, drew parallels with her political journey. "It’s funny; there was the biggest controversy of the decade over nepotism in Bollywood. Now, in politics, the David and Goliath narrative is following me. I come from scratch, while he [Vikramaditya Singh] is the royal scion of a political family who is a minister. I feel it is destiny."

Kangana claimed, "We have faced life-threatening attacks. There have been abuses and statements that the temple I visit should be cleaned afterwards."

Kangana Ranaut On Calling Vikramaditya Singh "Chhota Pappu"

Kangana has mocked Vikramaditya Singh as "Chhota Pappu," drawing a parallel to the "Pappu" moniker often used by the BJP and its supporters for Rahul Gandhi. Explaining her comment, she said, "Pappu refers to someone who is not very intelligent, someone who is dumb. When you say dumb things and use derogatory language for daughters, it shows your IQ."

She accused the Congress system of being built on lies, adding, "Congress claims BJP will change the constitution. They say my makeup team travels with me, and my water comes from Paris. They are trying to portray me as an alien entity before the common people."

Kangana asserted her local credentials, saying, "Himachali people are sharp. I have two houses in this constituency. My opponent isn't even in Mandi. They are misleading people by saying I am a foreign entity while he is a local."

When asked how she sees herself in politics, Kangana said, "Life will give you what you deserve. It’s not about wanting or not wanting. If I do good, I will get good results, whether it’s today or tomorrow. Modi ji, Yogi (Adityanath) ji, Amit (Shah) ji, and (Nitin) Gadkari ji have achieved so much, so I will too, whether the result comes today or later."

This high-pitched campaign, with its personal barbs, is set to make the Mandi Lok Sabha contest one of the most watched in Himachal Pradesh. The polling on this seat is set to take place in the final phase of the Lok Sabha elections 2024 on June 1.
