Haryana Polls: Yogi Adityanath Compares Congress To ‘Dilapidated’ Babri Mosque, Reiterates ‘Batoge Toh Katoge’

Haryana Election 2024: UP CM Yogi Adityanath compared Congress's structure to the dilapidated Babri Mosque, urging voters to reject caste-based politics.

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath launched an attack on the Congress, comparing its current structure to the old and dilapidated Babri Mosque in Ayodhya. Speaking at election rallies in Narwana (Jind), Rai (Sonipat), and Assandh (Karnal), Adityanath urged voters to reject caste-based politics and return the BJP to power in Haryana to ensure development.

Adityanath criticised both the Congress and the Indian National Lok Dal (INLD), accusing them of engaging in "parivarvad" (dynastic politics). He said the Congress’ structure had become as "dilapidated" as the Babri Mosque once was: "Today, the structure of the Congress has become dilapidated like once Babri (mosque) structure in Ayodhya... when Lord Ram's devotees raised the slogan 'ek dhakka aur do, Babri dhanche ko tod do'."

He added that the demolition of the Babri structure symbolised the end of "slavery," paving the way for the Ram Temple's construction in Ayodhya. "The Babri structure has been demolished forever," Adityanath declared, urging the crowd to avoid division through caste politics: "I told you, didn’t I say 'batoge toh katoge, ek rahoge toh nek rahoge, koi mai ka laal aapka baal banka nahi kar payega'."

The BJP leader accused the Congress of creating obstacles in the Nankana Sahib corridor's construction and referenced the party’s alleged involvement in the 1984 anti-Sikh riots. He also attacked Congress leader Rahul Gandhi for his remarks made during a recent visit to the US, alleging Gandhi had "abused Sikhs" and "defamed India" abroad. "When Gandhi visits abroad, he raises questions on the country's constitutional bodies, attacks the country's faith," Adityanath alleged, as quoted by news agency PTI.

He further lambasted the Congress, accusing it of "dividing the country on the basis of caste, religion, region and language" for political gain. "These people who play with the security of the country… to expect that they will make any effort for the security and prosperity of India will be meaningless," he remarked.

Addressing the Congress' historical governance, Adityanath claimed that despite ruling the country for years, they had not named airports after Maharishi Valmiki, Sant Ravidas, or Dr B.R. Ambedkar, but preferred to name them after their own family members.

UP CM Yogi Adityanath Hails Own Government, Slams INLD-BSP Alliance

On the transformation of Uttar Pradesh, Adityanath emphasised how the state had improved under BJP rule: "What was the situation in UP before 2017? Every other day riots took place, there was anarchy, daughters were not safe, and development was hindered." He noted that under the BJP's "double-engine government," Uttar Pradesh had not witnessed a single riot in the past seven-and-a-half years.

Adityanath also turned his focus towards the INLD-BSP alliance, stating that the INLD "has no existence outside Haryana" and cannot single-handedly foster development. He also addressed the issue of atrocities against Hindus in Bangladesh, asserting that 90% of those affected came from the Dalit community, but both the Congress and the INLD were concerned only with their vote banks.

He further accused the Congress of being reluctant to remove Article 370 from Jammu and Kashmir to secure Muslim votes, calling the party "divisive."

Polling for Haryana's 90 Assembly seats is scheduled for October 5, with the results to be announced on October 8.
