BJP Releases List Of Candidates For West Bengal and Arunachal Pradesh Bypolls
The CEC of BJP announced the names of the candidates for the upcoming bye-elections to be held in West Bengal and Arunachal Pradesh.
New Delhi: The Central Election Committee of the Bharatiya Janata Party on Wednesday announced the names of the candidates for the upcoming bye-elections to be held in West Bengal and Arunachal Pradesh, as reported by the news agency ANI. The saffron party has decided to field Tsering Lhamu from Arunachal Pradesh's Lumla (ST) seat and Dilip Saha from West Bengal's Sagardighi seat, as reported by ANI.
The Election Commission announced the schedule for the bye-elections to six assembly seats across five states in January. Bye-elections will be held in one assembly constituency, each in Arunachal Pradesh, Jharkhand, West Bengal, and Tamil Nadu, and two assembly constituencies in Maharashtra will be held on February 27.
The last date for filing nominations is February 7. The scrutiny of nominations will be done on February 8 while the last Date for Withdrawal of candidatures is February 10. The counting of votes to all by-polls will be held on March 2.

Arunachal Pradesh's Lumla seat was left vacant following the demise of BJP leader Jambey Tashi and as far as Jharkhand's Ramgarh seat is concerned, the election was necessitated after the disqualification of Congress leader Mamta Devi, ANI reported. The election was necessitated on Tamil Nadu's Erode (east) after the death of Congress leader Thiru E Thirumahan Everaa and West Bengal's Sagardighi seat was vacant after the death of Trinamool Congress (TMC) leader Subrata Saha.
The BJP on Thursday released its list of 20 candidates for the Nagaland Assembly election. The party's state president, Temjen Imna Along, has been fielded from the Alongtaki Legislative Assembly constituency.
Earlier, the Election Commission also announced the schedule for Assembly elections in the northeastern states of Tripura, Meghalaya, and Nagaland to be held in February-March this year. The results will be declared on March 2, 2023.
