New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi, along with Amit Shah, released the ruling BJP's manifesto for the upcoming general elections starting from April 11. The "sankalp patra" or document of promises envisages the building of a  "Sankalpit Bharat - Shashakt Bharat" or "determined India, empowered India". Addressing the party workers and media on releasing the party manifesto, president Amit Shah said - in five years, the government led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi has taken 50 major decisions for the betterment of the country. From 2014-19, our government has transformed the country," Amit Shah said today. Amit Shah added that the party took suggestions from six crore people while making the sankalp patra. When we came to power in 2014, our country was ranked as 11th major economy. Today, it stands as 5th major economy," Mr Shah said. In wake of the farmer’s distress, the BJP manifesto had a couple of major promises for the agrarian community in the form of pension to all farmers and the doubling of farmers' income by next year. "PM Modi has promised to double the income of farmers, and we have largely managed to fulfill it. Rs. 25 lakh crore will be spent on development of rural areas," the Home Minister said. • To provide short-term new agriculture loans up to Rs. 1 lakh at a 0% interest rate for 1-5 years on the condition of prompt repayment of the principal amount
• To increase cropped area under irrigation
• To digitize all land records by end of second term

In 2014, the BJP had released its manifesto on the first day of the nine-phase polls but this time the Election Commission has put a 48-hour gag order as part of the model code and it applies to each of the seven phases over the next six weeks.
