The Election Commission of India on Monday announced the poll schedule for legislative assemblies of five states — Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Chhattisgarh, Mizoram, and Telangana.
Polls to the Legislative Assemblies of Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Telangana, and Mizoram will be held in a single phase while Chhattisgarh will undergo polls in two phases.
Mizoram will go to polls on November 7, Madhya Pradesh on November 17, Rajasthan on November 23, and Telangana on November 30 while Chhattisgarh will vote in two phases on November 7 and November 17.
Over 16 crore registered voters are set to caste their votes in 679 assembly constituencies across the five states.
The term of Mizoram Legislative Assembly will end on December 17, 2023 while the current Chhattisgarh Legislative Assembly will have its term ending on January 3, 2024.
The Legislative Assembly of Madhya Pradesh will terminate on January 6, 2024 and the present tenure of Rajasthan Legislative Assembly will end on January 14, 2024.
Telangana will see its Legislative Assembly's current term terminating on January 16, 2024.
ABP CVoter Opinion Poll
As the poll schedule has been announced, ABP News in association with CVoter conducted a survey to guage the mood of voters in the five states to know their choice of leaders and political parties with less than a month left for the polls. In Rajasthan, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is poised to make significant gains. The survey suggests that the BJP could secure anywhere between 127 to 137 seats out of the 200-member Assembly while Congress is projected to win between 59 to 69 seats.
A close contest is on cards in Chhattisgarh and Madhya Pradesh between the BJP and Congress. Out of the total 90 seats in Chhattisgarh, the saffron party can secure 39 to 45 seats, while the Congress is expected to win 45 to 51 seats
In the 230-member Madhya Pradesh Assembly, a maximum of 113 to 125 seats can go to the Congress while the ruling BJP is likely to get 104 to 116 seats.
The ruling Mizo National Front could again come back to power in Mizoram as it is porjected to secure 13 to 17 seats while INC could win 10 to 14 seats, ZPM 9 to 13 seats, and Others 1 to 3 seats.
Telangana could see a face-off between ruling Bharat Rashtra Samithi and Congress with a possibility of BRS securing 43 to 55 seats, while the Congress is expected to win 48 to 60 seats.
Congress Candidates For Chhattisgarh Polls Will Be Announced In 2 To 4 Days: Kumari Selja
Congress general secretary in-charge of Chhattisgarh Kumari Selja said the names of its candidates for the upcoming elections would be announced by this weekend and that the party had set a target of winning 75 seats out of 90.

On reports of dissatisfaction within the party over the distribution of tickets, Rajasthan LoP and BJP MLA Rajendra Rathore says, "There is no such dissatisfaction. BJP is a cadre-based party...The party is one, there are no factions on infighting here - unlike Congress..."

Election Commission transfers 9 District Magistrates/DEO, 25 Commissioners of Police/ SPs/Addl. SPs, 4 Secretaries/Special Secretaries across five poll-bound states for laxity in work; directs to immediately hand over charge to immediate junior & directs respective State Govts to send Panel by 1700 hrs 12.10.23, reports ANI.
Rajasthan Polls: BJP MP Devji Patel's Motorcade Attacked By People Protesting Against His Nomination
BJP MP Devji M Patel's cavalcade was pelted with stones by some people protesting against his nomination from Sanchore in the November 25 Rajasthan assembly polls, police said. The leader escaped unhurt but his and some other vehicles in the motorcade were damaged, PTI reported.
