Assembly Elections 2023 Highlights: Please follow this space for all the latest updates on assembly polls in Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Rajasthan, Telangana, and Mizoram. The polls for 230-member Madhya Pradesh Legislative Assembly began on Friday along with the second phase of polling in Chhattisgarh for the remaining 70 seats.
The phase-I polls took place in Chhattisgarh on November 7 on 20 seats which included the Naxal-affected Bastar division. In the second phase of polling, Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel’s Patan seat in Durg district and Deputy CM TS Singh Deo's Ambikapur seat is in the fray. Seats of ten ministers of Chhattisgarh cabinet are also in the list.
A total of 1.63 crore registered voters will seal the fate of 958 candidates contesting the polls across 18,806 polling stations in Chhattisgarh.
BJP's Renuka Singh has been fielded from Bharatpur-Sonhat seat in Koriya district, MP Arun Sao nominated from Lormi seat in Mungeli district, and MLAs Brijmohan Agrawal from Raipur South seat.
In Madhya Pradesh, around 5.6 crore registered voters will line up in 52 districts to seal the fate of 2,534 candidates in the single phase polls.
Of the total 5.6 crore registered voters in the state, 2.88 crore male voters, 2.72 female voters, and 1292 voters from the LGBTQ+ community will be exercising their franchise in the Friday polls.
Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has been fielded from Sehore seat in Budhni constituency while MP home minister Narottam Mishra has been nominated from the Datia seat. Congress' Kamal Nath is contesting the polls from Chhindwara seat and is looking for a comeback in the polls.
Voting for Mizoram polls have already been completed on November 7 while Rajasthan will undergo polling on November 25 and Telangana on November 30.
Th votes for all the five states will be counted together on December 3 and the entire polling process will be completed by December 5, as per the Election Commission of India.

A tentative voter turnout of 67.34 per cent has been recorded in Chhattisgarh 71.11 per cent voters polled in Madhya Pradesh till 5 pm, according to the Election Commission of India.
