Andhra Polls: Congress Announces 9 ‘Guarantees’ Including Mahalakshmi Scheme, MSP For Farmers

The Congress promised to fulfil nine guarantees in Andhra Pradesh if the party is voted to power in the state. 

Andhra Pradesh Assembly Polls: Ahead of the Andhra Pradesh Assembly elections, AP PCC Chief YS Sharmila on Saturday sounded the poll bugle for the Congress’ electoral campaign in the state and launched the party’s manifesto for the upcoming polls.

During the launch of the manifesto, she also promised nine guarantees if the party is voted to power. The nine guarantees given by the grand old party in the state include the 'Mahalakshmi scheme' for women and loan waivers for farmers. 

Nine Guarantees Of Congress In Andhra Pradesh

  1. Special Category Status for 10 years 
  2. Mahalakshmi: Rs.8,333 every month to every woman from poor background.
  3. Loan waiver up to Rs.2 lakhs for farmers.
  4. New MSP rates for farmers, aimed to provide 50% more return on investment.
  5. Minimum wage Rs.400 for labourers under the Employment Guarantee Scheme.
  6. Free education from KG to PG.
  7. Filling 2.25 lakh Govt job vacancies in the state.
  8. Free housing scheme with Rs.5 lakhs for every poor houseless family.
  9. Old age pensions Rs.4,000 and Rs.6,000 pensions for disabled, based on the eligibility.

Meanwhile, TDP supremo N Chandrababu Naidu on Thursday said that people in Andhra Pradesh are all set to defeat YSRCP chief Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy in the upcoming polls. The opposition leader asserted that Chief Minister Reddy's 'Memanta Siddham' election campaign bus tour is a "failure" and urged the people to support the NDA alliance of TDP, BJP, and Janasena for the rebuilding of the state.

While addressing people as part of his Prajagalam election campaign tour, Naidu said, "The ego of Andhra Pradesh CM Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy will collapse after May 13th (election day)", as quoted by PTI.

Elections for the 175-member Assembly and 25 Lok Sabha seats in Andhra Pradesh are scheduled on May 13 and counting of votes is slated for June 4.
