Wayanad: In the 2014 Lok Sabha polls, M I Shanavas from Indian National Congress (INC) won the elections by a margin of 20870 votes. The polling / voting in Wayanad constituency in the 2019 General elections took place in Phase 3 on 23 April. The major contest is between Congress Party#s Rahul Gandhi and Bharath Dharma Jana Sena#s Thushar Vellapally

Wayanad 2014 Lok Sabha Polls

In the 2014 Lok Sabha polls, Indian National Congress won 8 out of the 20 parliamentary seat with 31.1 percent vote share while the Communist Party of India (Marxist) managed to win just 5 seats with a 21.6 percent vote share.

Out of the 15 Lok Sabha candidates who contested the 2014 Lok Sabha elections from Wayanad, 13 had to deposit their security. The voters gave their mandate in favour of M I Shanavas of the Indian National Congress as he defeated Sathyan Mokeri by a margin of 20870 votes.
