Vadakara: In the 2014 Lok Sabha polls, Mullappally Ramachandran from Indian National Congress (INC) won the elections by a margin of 3306 votes. The polling / voting in Vadakara constituency in the 2019 General elections took place in Phase 3 on 23 April. The major contest is between Communist Party of India (Marxist)#s P Jayarajan and Congress Party#s K. Muraleedharan

In the 2014 Lok Sabha polls, Indian National Congress won 8 out of the 20 parliamentary seat with 31.1 percent vote share while the Communist Party of India (Marxist) managed to win just 5 seats with a 21.6 percent vote share.

Voter turnout in the 2014 Lok Sabha elections in Vadakara Lok Sabha Lok Sabha constituency. The total voter turnout was 81.13% Lok Sabha percent with 77.97% Lok Sabha percent male voters turning out to cast their votes. Out of the 11 Lok Sabha candidates who contested the 2014 Lok Sabha elections from Vadakara, 9 had to deposit their security. The voters gave their mandate in favour of Mullappally Ramachandran of the Indian National Congress as he defeated Adv.A.N.Shamseer by a margin of 3306 votes.
