Sasaram: In the 2014 Lok Sabha polls, Chhedi Paswan from Bharatiya Janta Party (BJP) won the elections by a margin of 63327 votes. The polling / voting in Sasaram constituency in the 2019 General elections took place in Phase 7 on 19 May. The major contest is between Bharatiya Janata Party#s Chhedi Paswan and Congress Party#s Smt. Meira kumar

Sasaram 2014 Lok Sabha Polls

In the 2014 Lok Sabha polls, Bharatiya Janata Party won 22 out of the 40 parliamentary seat with 29.4 percent vote share while the Lok Janshakti Party managed to win just 6 seats with a 6.4 percent vote share.

Voter turnout in the 2014 Lok Sabha elections in Sasaram Lok Sabha Lok Sabha constituency. The total voter turnout was 52.67% Lok Sabha percent with 55.17% Lok Sabha percent male voters turning out to cast their votes. Meanwhile, 49.80% Lok Sabha percent of the women voters cast their votes and 13379 Lok Sabha voters pressed on the NOTA

Out of the 11 Lok Sabha candidates who contested the 2014 Lok Sabha elections from Sasaram, 9 had to deposit their security. The voters gave their mandate in favour of Chhedi Paswan of the Bharatiya Janta Party as he defeated Meira Kumar by a margin of 63327 votes.

• 2009 Lok Sabha Elections: In 15th Lok Sabha election, Indian National Congress candidate defeated Bharatiya Janta Party candidate with a difference of 42954 votes. Here, Indian National Congress leader Smt. Meira Kumar attained 192213 votes and Bharatiya Janta Party candidate Muni Lal bagged 149259 votes
• 2004 Lok Sabha Elections: In 14th Lok Sabha election, Indian National Congress candidate defated Bharatiya Janta Party candidate in one-sided contest. Here, INC candidate Mira Kumar attained 416673 votes and BJP's Muni Lal bagged 158411 votes.
• 1999 Lok Sabha Elections: In 13th Lok Sabha election, Bharatiya Janta Party candidate defeated Rashtriya Janata Dal candidate with a difference of 18676 votes. Here, Bharatiya Janta Party leader Muni Lall attained 257223 votes and Rashtriya Janata Dal candidate Ram Keshi Bharati bagged 238547 votes
• 1998 Lok Sabha Elections: In 12th Lok Sabha election, Bharatiya Janta Party candidate had defeated Rashtriya Janata Dal candidate by a margin of 88728 votes BJP candidate Muni Lall had got 282865 while RJD got Ram Keshi Prasad votes.
• 1996 Lok Sabha Elections: In 11th Lok Sabha election, Bharatiya Janta Party candidate had defeated JD candidate by a margin of 53633 votes BJP candidate Muni Lal had got 282075 while JD got Chhedi Paswan votes.
• 1991 Lok Sabha Elections: In 10th Lok Sabha election, JD candidate defeated Indian National Congress candidate with a difference of 22562 votes. Here, JD leader Chhedi Paswan attained 210823 votes and Indian National Congress candidate Meera Kumar (W) bagged 188261 votes
• 1989 Lok Sabha Elections: In Ninth Lok Sabha poll, JD candidate defated Indian National Congress candidate in one-sided contest. Here, JD candidate Chhedi Paswan attained 306615 votes and INC's Meera Kumar bagged 192959 votes.
• 1984 Lok Sabha Elections: In 8th Lok Sabha election, interesting battle could be seen between ICJ and Indian National Congress here ICJ candidate defeated his Indian National Congress counterpart with a difference of 1372 votes.
• 1980 Lok Sabha Elections: In 7th Lok Sabha election, JNP candidate had defeated Indian National Congress candidate by a margin of 51170 votes JNP candidate Jagjiwan Ram had got 169207 while INC(I) got Mahabir Paswan votes.
• 1977 Lok Sabha Elections: In Sixth Lok Sabha election, BLD candidate defated INC candidate in one-sided contest. Here, BLD candidate Jagivan Ram attained 327995 votes and INC's Mungeri Lall bagged 84185 votes.
• 1971 Lok Sabha Elections: In Fifth Lok Sabha poll, Indian National Congress candidate defated NCO candidate in one-sided contest. Here, INC candidate Jag Jiwan Ram attained 210353 votes and NCO's Mahabir Pasawan bagged 88153 votes.
• 1967 Lok Sabha Elections: In Fourth Lok Sabha poll, Indian National Congress candidate defated PSP candidate in one-sided contest. Here, INC candidate J. Ram attained 149355 votes and PSP's S. Ram bagged 38689 votes.
• 1962 Lok Sabha Elections: In Third Lok Sabha election, Indian National Congress candidate had defeated SWA candidate by a margin of 53995 votes INC candidate Jagjivan Ram had got 137060 while SWA got Rameshwar Agnibhoj votes.
• 1957 Lok Sabha Elections: In Second Lok Sabha election, interesting battle could be seen between Indian National Congress and ; here Indian National Congress candidate defeated his counterpart with a difference of 0 votes.
