Background

Sangli: In the 2014 Lok Sabha polls, Sanjaykaka Patil from Bharatiya Janta Party (BJP) won the elections by a margin of 239292 votes. The polling / voting in Sangli constituency in the 2019 General elections took place in Phase 3 on 23 April. The major contest is between Bharatiya Janata Party#s Sanjay (Kaka) Ramachandra Patil and Swabhimani Shetkari Sanghatana#s Vishal Patil

Sangli 2014 Lok Sabha Polls

In the 2014 Lok Sabha polls, Bharatiya Janata Party won 23 out of the 48 parliamentary seat with 27.3 percent vote share while the Shiv Sena managed to win just 18 seats with a 20.6 percent vote share.

Out of the 17 Lok Sabha candidates who contested the 2014 Lok Sabha elections from Sangli, 15 had to deposit their security. The voters gave their mandate in favour of Sanjaykaka Patil of the Bharatiya Janta Party as he defeated Patil Pratik Prakashbapu by a margin of 239292 votes.

  • 2004 Lok Sabha Elections: In 14th Lok Sabha election, Indian National Congress candidate had defeated Bharatiya Janta Party candidate by a margin of 81623 votes INC candidate Patil Prakashbapu Vasantdada had got 305048 while BJP got Deepak (Baba) Abasaheb Shinde Mhaisalkar votes.
  • 1999 Lok Sabha Elections: In 13th Lok Sabha poll, Indian National Congress candidate defated Nationalist Congress Party candidate in one-sided contest. Here, INC candidate Prakash (Bapu) Vasantrao Patil attained 381162 votes and NCP's Patil Madan Vishwanath bagged 220602 votes.
  • 1998 Lok Sabha Elections: In 12th Lok Sabha election, Indian National Congress candidate had defeated Bharatiya Janta Party candidate by a margin of 73239 votes INC candidate Patil Madan Vishwanath had got 338900 while BJP got Dange Anna Alias Ramchandra Mahadev votes.
  • 1996 Lok Sabha Elections: In 11th Lok Sabha poll, Indian National Congress candidate defated Independent candidate in one-sided contest. Here, INC candidate Patil Madan Vishwanath attained 300323 votes and IND's Matuti Dnyanu Patil (Mane) bagged 125610 votes.
  • 1991 Lok Sabha Elections: In 10th Lok Sabha election, Indian National Congress candidate defated Communist Party of India (Marxist) candidate in one-sided contest. Here, INC candidate Patil Prakashbapu Vasantrao attained 313906 votes and CPI's Lad Ganapati Dada bagged 106226 votes.
  • 1989 Lok Sabha Elections: In Ninth Lok Sabha election, Indian National Congress candidate defated Bharatiya Janta Party candidate in one-sided contest. Here, INC candidate Patil Prakashbapu Vasantrao attained 361753 votes and BJP's Dange Anna Alais Ranchandra Mahadeo bagged 153477 votes.
  • 1984 Lok Sabha Elections: In 8th Lok Sabha poll, Indian National Congress candidate defated JNP candidate in one-sided contest. Here, INC candidate Patil Prakash Vasantrao attained 304202 votes and JNP's Patil Vishwasrao Ramrao bagged 162509 votes.
  • 1980 Lok Sabha Elections: In 7th Lok Sabha poll, Indian National Congress candidate defated JNP candidate in one-sided contest. Here, INC(I) candidate Patil Vasantrao Banduji attained 296189 votes and JNP's Patil Vishwasrao Ramrao bagged 128544 votes.
  • 1977 Lok Sabha Elections: In Sixth Lok Sabha election, Indian National Congress candidate had defeated BLD candidate by a margin of 56294 votes INC candidate Gotkhinde Ganapatrao Tukaram had got 192125 while BLD got Vasudeo Daji Jadhav votes.
  • 1971 Lok Sabha Elections: In Fifth Lok Sabha election, Indian National Congress candidate defated PWP candidate in one-sided contest. Here, INC candidate Ganapati Tukaram Gotkhinde attained 253122 votes and PWP's Bhagwanrao Dnyandeo Suryawanshi bagged 34866 votes.
  • 1967 Lok Sabha Elections: In Fourth Lok Sabha poll, Indian National Congress candidate defated PWP candidate in one-sided contest. Here, INC candidate S. D. Patil attained 204185 votes and PWP's B. D. Patil bagged 95293 votes.
