Rahul attacks Modi saying he 'divided' country; PM says 'Cong chief maligning entire community by calling me thief'

Background

Porbandar: In the 2014 Lok Sabha polls, Radadiya Vithalbhai Hansrajbhai from Bharatiya Janta Party (BJP) won the elections by a margin of 267971 votes. The polling / voting in Porbandar constituency in the 2019 General elections took place in Phase 3 on 23 April. The major contest is between Bharatiya Janata Party#s Ramesh Dhaduk and Congress Party#s Lalit vasoya

Porbandar 2014 Lok Sabha Polls

In the 2014 Lok Sabha polls, Bharatiya Janata Party won 26 out of the 26 parliamentary seat with 60.11 percent vote share while the Indian National Congress managed to win just seats with a 33.45 percent vote share.

The total voter turnout was 52.59% Lok Sabha percent with 58.40% Lok Sabha percent male voters turning out to cast their votes. Meanwhile, 46.18% Lok Sabha percent of the women voters cast their votes and 16443 Lok Sabha voters pressed on the NOTA

Out of the 14 Lok Sabha candidates who contested the 2014 Lok Sabha elections from Porbandar, 12 had to deposit their security. The voters gave their mandate in favour of Radadiya Vithalbhai Hansrajbhai of the Bharatiya Janta Party as he defeated Jadeja Kandhalbhai Saramanbhai by a margin of 267971 votes.

  • 2004 Lok Sabha Elections: In 14th Lok Sabha election, interesting battle could be seen between Bharatiya Janta Party and Indian National Congress here Bharatiya Janta Party candidate defeated his Indian National Congress counterpart with a difference of 5703 votes.
  • 1999 Lok Sabha Elections: In 13th Lok Sabha poll, Bharatiya Janta Party candidate defated Indian National Congress candidate in one-sided contest. Here, BJP candidate Javiya Gordhanbhai Jadavbhai attained 210627 votes and INC's Manvar Balvantbhai Bachubhai bagged 109267 votes.
  • 1998 Lok Sabha Elections: In 12th Lok Sabha poll, Bharatiya Janta Party candidate defated Indian National Congress candidate in one-sided contest. Here, BJP candidate Javiya Gordhanbhai Jadavbhai attained 257516 votes and INC's Odedara Bharatbhai Maldevji bagged 130228 votes.
  • 1996 Lok Sabha Elections: In 11th Lok Sabha election, Bharatiya Janta Party candidate had defeated Indian National Congress candidate by a margin of 75000 votes BJP candidate Javiya Gordhanbhai Jadavbhai had got 175410 while INC got Chavda Pethaljibhai Nathabhai votes.
  • 1991 Lok Sabha Elections: In 10th Lok Sabha election, Bharatiya Janta Party candidate had defeated JD(G) candidate by a margin of 79049 votes BJP candidate Patel Hiralal Madhavjibhai had got 192869 while JD(G) got Manvar Balwantbhai Bachubhai votes.
  • 1989 Lok Sabha Elections: In Ninth Lok Sabha election, JD candidate had defeated Indian National Congress candidate by a margin of 67369 votes JD candidate Manvar Balvantbhai Bachubhai had got 198058 while INC got Bharatbhai Maldevji votes.
  • 1984 Lok Sabha Elections: In 8th Lok Sabha election, Indian National Congress candidate had defeated Bharatiya Janta Party candidate by a margin of 77951 votes INC candidate Odedara Bharatbhai Maldevji had got 205262 while BJP got Amin Ramadas Kishordas (R.K.Amin) votes.
  • 1980 Lok Sabha Elections: In 7th Lok Sabha election, Indian National Congress candidate had defeated JNP candidate by a margin of 60308 votes INC(I) candidate Odedra Maldeji Mandlikji had got 162721 while JNP got Patel Dharmasinbhai Dahyabhai votes.
  • 1977 Lok Sabha Elections: In Sixth Lok Sabha election, BLD candidate defeated INC candidate with a difference of 24429 votes. Here, BLD leader Patel Dharmasinhbhai Dahyabhai attained 143252 votes and INC candidate Dhami Ramniklal Kababhai bagged 118823 votes

Against the backdrop of Income Tax raids on close aides of Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Kamal Nath, the opposition BJP says it would make corruption as the main plank of its campaign for the Lok Sabha polls. The ruling Congress in the state also says it will probe all scams that came to light during the previous BJP-led government.
The Income-Tax Department last week said it detected a 'widespread and well-organised' racket of collection of unaccounted cash of about Rs 281 crore during raids against close aides of Nath and others. The Congress dubbed the searches as 'pre-meditated and politically motivated'.

Rahul attack on Modi:Hitting out at the Prime Minister, Congress President Rahul Gandhi on Wednesday alleged that Narendra Modihas 'divided' the country and made it fight within itself.
