Background

Muzaffarnagar: In the 2014 Lok Sabha polls, (Dr.) Sanjeev Kumar Balyan from Bharatiya Janta Party (BJP) won the elections by a margin of 401150 votes. The polling / voting in Muzaffarnagar constituency in the 2019 General elections took place in Phase 1 on 11 April. The major contest is between Bharatiya Janata Party#s Sanjeev Kumar Balyan and Pragatisheel Samajwadi Party-Lohia#s Ombir Singh

Muzaffarnagar 2014 Lok Sabha Polls

In the 2014 Lok Sabha polls, Bharatiya Janata Party won 71 out of the 80 parliamentary seat with 42.3 percent vote share while the Samajwadi Party managed to win just 5 seats with a 22.2 percent vote share.

Voter turnout in the 2014 Lok Sabha elections in Muzaffarnagar Lok Sabha Lok Sabha constituency. The total voter turnout was 69.72% Lok Sabha percent with 70.91% Lok Sabha percent male voters turning out to cast their votes. Meanwhile, 68.25% Lok Sabha percent of the women voters cast their votes and 4739 Lok Sabha voters pressed on the NOTA

Out of the 19 Lok Sabha candidates who contested the 2014 Lok Sabha elections from Muzaffarnagar, 17 had to deposit their security. The voters gave their mandate in favour of (Dr.) Sanjeev Kumar Balyan of the Bharatiya Janta Party as he defeated Kadir Rana by a margin of 401150 votes.

  • 2009 Lok Sabha Elections: In 15th Lok Sabha election, Bahujan Samaj Party candidate defeated Rashtriya Lok Dal candidate with a difference of 20598 votes. Here, Bahujan Samaj Party leader Kadir Rana attained 275318 votes and Rashtriya Lok Dal candidate Anuradha Chaudhary bagged 254720 votes
  • 2004 Lok Sabha Elections: In 14th Lok Sabha election, Samajwadi Party candidate had defeated Bharatiya Janta Party candidate by a margin of 69005 votes SP candidate Ch. Munawwar Hasan had got 306225 while BJP got Amarpal Singh votes.
  • 1999 Lok Sabha Elections: In 13th Lok Sabha election, Indian National Congress candidate defeated Bharatiya Janta Party candidate with a difference of 25751 votes. Here, Indian National Congress leader Saiduzzaman attained 196669 votes and Bharatiya Janta Party candidate Sohanveer Singh bagged 170918 votes
  • 1998 Lok Sabha Elections: In 12th Lok Sabha election, Bharatiya Janta Party candidate defeated Samajwadi Party candidate with a difference of 22724 votes. Here, Bharatiya Janta Party leader Sohanveer Singh attained 250466 votes and Samajwadi Party candidate Harendra Singh bagged 227742 votes
  • 1996 Lok Sabha Elections: In 11th Lok Sabha election, Bharatiya Janta Party candidate defeated Samajwadi Party candidate with a difference of 34652 votes. Here, Bharatiya Janta Party leader Sohan Veer attained 210705 votes and Samajwadi Party candidate Sanjay Singh bagged 176053 votes
  • 1991 Lok Sabha Elections: In 10th Lok Sabha election, Bharatiya Janta Party candidate had defeated JD candidate by a margin of 95651 votes BJP candidate Naresh Kumar Baliyan had got 271638 while JD got Mufti Mohammed Sayeed votes.
  • 1989 Lok Sabha Elections: In Ninth Lok Sabha poll, JD candidate defated Indian National Congress candidate in one-sided contest. Here, JD candidate Mufti Mohammad Sayeed attained 335324 votes and INC's Anand Prakash Tyagi bagged 176337 votes.
  • 1984 Lok Sabha Elections: In 8th Lok Sabha poll, Indian National Congress candidate defated LKD candidate in one-sided contest. Here, INC candidate Dharam Vir Singh attained 242751 votes and LKD's Narain Singh bagged 134730 votes.
  • 1980 Lok Sabha Elections: In 7th Lok Sabha election, JNP(S) candidate had defeated Indian National Congress candidate by a margin of 50172 votes JNP(S) candidate Ghayoor Ali Khan had got 183538 while INC(I) got Nazar Mohammad votes.
  • 1977 Lok Sabha Elections: In Sixth Lok Sabha poll, BLD candidate defated INC candidate in one-sided contest. Here, BLD candidate Saeed Murtaza attained 270644 votes and INC's Varun Singh bagged 87985 votes.
  • 1971 Lok Sabha Elections: In Fifth Lok Sabha election, Communist Party of India (Marxist) candidate had defeated BKD candidate by a margin of 50279 votes CPI candidate Vijay Pal Singh had got 203193 while BKD got Charan Singh votes.
  • 1967 Lok Sabha Elections: In Fourth Lok Sabha election, Communist Party of India (Marxist) candidate defeated IND candidate with a difference of 11602 votes. Here, Communist Party of India (Marxist) leader L.A. Khan attained 74755 votes and IND candidate B. Swarup bagged 63153 votes
  • 1957 Lok Sabha Elections: In Second Lok Sabha poll, Indian National Congress candidate defated BJS candidate in one-sided contest. Here, INC candidate Sumat Prasad attained 139155 votes and BJS's Hazari Lal bagged 33152 votes.
  • 1951 Lok Sabha Elections: In India's Very First Lok Sabha Polls, Indian National Congress candidate had defeated IND candidate by a margin of 73995 votes INC candidate Tripathi Hira Ballabh had got 103994 while IND got Ranjit Singh votes.
