Karur: In the 2014 Lok Sabha polls, Thambidurai,M. from All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (ADMK) won the elections by a margin of 195247 votes. The polling / voting in Karur constituency in the 2019 General elections took place in Phase 2 on 18 April. The major contest is between All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam#s M. Thambidurai and Congress Party#s Selvi jothi mani

In the 2014 Lok Sabha polls, All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam won 37 out of the 39 parliamentary seat with 44.3 percent vote share while the Bharatiya Janata Party managed to win just 1 seats with a 5.5 percent vote share.

Voter turnout in the 2014 Lok Sabha elections in Karur Lok Sabha Lok Sabha constituency. The total voter turnout was 80.61% Lok Sabha percent with 79.77% Lok Sabha percent male voters turning out to cast their votes. Meanwhile, 81.43% Lok Sabha percent of the women voters cast their votes and 13763 Lok Sabha voters pressed on the NOTA

Out of the 25 Lok Sabha candidates who contested the 2014 Lok Sabha elections from Karur, 23 had to deposit their security. The voters gave their mandate in favour of Thambidurai,M. of the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam as he defeated Chinnasamy, M. by a margin of 195247 votes.

• 2004 Lok Sabha Elections: In 14th Lok Sabha poll, Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam candidate defated All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam candidate in one-sided contest. Here, DMK candidate Palanisamy, K. C. attained 450407 votes and ADMK's Palanichamy, Raja. N bagged 259531 votes.
• 1999 Lok Sabha Elections: In 13th Lok Sabha election, interesting battle could be seen between All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam and Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam here All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam candidate defeated his Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam counterpart with a difference of 2847 votes.
• 1998 Lok Sabha Elections: In 12th Lok Sabha election, All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam candidate defeated TMC(M) candidate with a difference of 43673 votes. Here, All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam leader Thambi Durai.M attained 327480 votes and TMC(M) candidate Natrayan. K bagged 283807 votes
• 1996 Lok Sabha Elections: In 11th Lok Sabha poll, TMC(M) candidate defated All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam candidate in one-sided contest. Here, TMC(M) candidate Natrayan.K attained 409830 votes and ADMK's Thambidurai.M bagged 241556 votes.
• 1991 Lok Sabha Elections: In 10th Lok Sabha election, ADK candidate defated Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam candidate in one-sided contest. Here, ADK candidate Murugesan N. attained 475571 votes and DMK's Thirunavukkarasu D. bagged 205602 votes.
• 1989 Lok Sabha Elections: In Ninth Lok Sabha election, ADK candidate defated Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam candidate in one-sided contest. Here, ADK candidate Thambithurai, M. attained 484492 votes and DMK's Palanisamy. K.C. bagged 245741 votes.
• 1984 Lok Sabha Elections: In 8th Lok Sabha election, Indian National Congress candidate defated Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam candidate in one-sided contest. Here, INC candidate Murugaiah A. R. attained 413533 votes and DMK's Kandaswamy, M. bagged 177970 votes.
• 1980 Lok Sabha Elections: In 7th Lok Sabha election, Indian National Congress candidate had defeated ADK candidate by a margin of 74134 votes INC(I) candidate Dorai Sebastian S.A. had got 281149 while ADK got Kanagaraj K. votes.

• 1962 Lok Sabha Elections: In Third Lok Sabha election, Indian National Congress candidate defeated SWA candidate with a difference of 39156 votes. Here, Indian National Congress leader R. Ramanathan Chettiar attained 139385 votes and SWA candidate P. Ponnambala Gounder bagged 100229 votes
• 1957 Lok Sabha Elections: In Second Lok Sabha election, Indian National Congress candidate defeated IND candidate with a difference of 32264 votes. Here, Indian National Congress leader K. Periasami Gounder attained 105399 votes and IND candidate V. R. Seshiyan bagged 73135 votes
