Background

Kachchh: In the 2014 Lok Sabha polls, Chavda Vinod Lakhamashi from Bharatiya Janta Party (BJP) won the elections by a margin of 254482 votes. The polling / voting in Kachchh constituency in the 2019 General elections took place in Phase 3 on 23 April. The major contest is between Bharatiya Janata Party#s Vinod Bhai Chavda and Congress Party#s Naresh n. Maheswari

Kachchh 2014 Lok Sabha Polls

In the 2014 Lok Sabha polls, Bharatiya Janata Party won 26 out of the 26 parliamentary seat with 60.11 percent vote share while the Indian National Congress managed to win just seats with a 33.45 percent vote share.

The total voter turnout was 61.69% Lok Sabha percent with 64.60% Lok Sabha percent male voters turning out to cast their votes.   • 1999 Lok Sabha Elections: In 13th Lok Sabha election, interesting battle could be seen between Bharatiya Janta Party and Indian National Congress here Bharatiya Janta Party candidate defeated his Indian National Congress counterpart with a difference of 4315 votes.
  • 1998 Lok Sabha Elections: In 12th Lok Sabha election, Bharatiya Janta Party candidate had defeated Indian National Congress candidate by a margin of 61025 votes BJP candidate Gadhvi Pushpadan Shambhudan had got 224795 while INC got Maheshbhai Thakkar votes.
  • 1996 Lok Sabha Elections: In 11th Lok Sabha poll, Bharatiya Janta Party candidate defated Indian National Congress candidate in one-sided contest. Here, BJP candidate Gadhvi Pushpadan Shambhudan attained 193549 votes and INC's Dinesh Trivedi bagged 91577 votes.
  • 1991 Lok Sabha Elections: In 10th Lok Sabha election, Indian National Congress candidate defeated Bharatiya Janta Party candidate with a difference of 33003 votes. Here, Indian National Congress leader Patel Harilal Nanji attained 179109 votes and Bharatiya Janta Party candidate Babulal Meghji Shah bagged 146106 votes
  • 1989 Lok Sabha Elections: In Ninth Lok Sabha election, Bharatiya Janta Party candidate had defeated Indian National Congress candidate by a margin of 81564 votes BJP candidate Babu Bhai Meghji Shah had got 228394 while INC got Usha Raghavji Thaker votes.
  • 1984 Lok Sabha Elections: In 8th Lok Sabha election, Indian National Congress candidate defeated LKD candidate with a difference of 30085 votes. Here, Indian National Congress leader Ushaben Raghavji Thakkar attained 129624 votes and LKD candidate Mahipatray Mulshanker Mehta bagged 99539 votes
  • 1980 Lok Sabha Elections: In 7th Lok Sabha election, Indian National Congress candidate defeated JNP candidate with a difference of 20951 votes. Here, Indian National Congress leader Mehta Mahipatray Mulshanker attained 133163 votes and JNP candidate Dava Anantray Devshanker bagged 112212 votes
  • 1977 Lok Sabha Elections: In Sixth Lok Sabha election, BLD candidate defeated INC candidate with a difference of 10817 votes. Here, BLD leader Dave Anantray Devshankar attained 115514 votes and INC candidate Mehta Mahipatray Mulshankar bagged 104697 votes
  • 1971 Lok Sabha Elections: In Fifth Lok Sabha election, interesting battle could be seen between Indian National Congress and NCO here Indian National Congress candidate defeated his NCO counterpart with a difference of 1979 votes.
  • 1967 Lok Sabha Elections: In Fourth Lok Sabha election, interesting battle could be seen between Indian National Congress and SWA here Indian National Congress candidate defeated his SWA counterpart with a difference of 6675 votes.
  • 1962 Lok Sabha Elections: In Third Lok Sabha election, SWA candidate had defeated INC candidate by a margin of 61758 votes SWA candidate M. K. S. Himatsinhji Vijarajji had got 145947 while INC got Bhawanji Arjan Khimj votes.
  • 1957 Lok Sabha Elections: In Second Lok Sabha election, Indian National Congress candidate defeated IND candidate with a difference of 25789 votes. Here, Indian National Congress leader Bhavanji A. Khimji attained 83688 votes and IND candidate Shah Pranlal Nanachand bagged 57899 votes
  • 1951 Lok Sabha Elections: In India's Very First Lok Sabha Polls, Indian National Congress candidate defeated IND candidate with a difference of 14014 votes.
