Jaynagar: In the 2014 Lok Sabha polls, Pratima Mondal from All India Trinamool Congress (AITC) won the elections by a margin of 108384 votes. The polling / voting in Jaynagar constituency in the 2019 General elections took place in Phase 7 on 19 May. The major contest is between Bharatiya Janata Party#s Dr Ashok Kandari and All India Trinamool Congress#s Pratima Mondal

Jaynagar 2014 Lok Sabha Polls

In the 2014 Lok Sabha polls, All India Trinamool Congress won 34 out of the 42 parliamentary seat with 39.8 percent vote share while the Communist Party of India (Marxist) managed to win just 2 seats with a 23 percent vote share.

Out of the 10 Lok Sabha candidates who contested the 2014 Lok Sabha elections from Jaynagar, 8 had to deposit their security. The voters gave their mandate in favour of Pratima Mondal of the All India Trinamool Congress as he defeated Subhas Naskar by a margin of 108384 votes.

• 2004 Lok Sabha Elections: In 14th Lok Sabha election, Revolutionary Socialist Party candidate defated Bharatiya Janta Party candidate in one-sided contest. Here, RSP candidate Sanat Kumar Mandal attained 450043 votes and BJP's Asit Baran Thakur bagged 219522 votes.
• 1999 Lok Sabha Elections: In 13th Lok Sabha poll, Revolutionary Socialist Party candidate defated Bharatiya Janta Party candidate in one-sided contest. Here, RSP candidate Sanat Kumar Mondal attained 396383 votes and BJP's Krishna Pada Majumder bagged 284082 votes.
• 1998 Lok Sabha Elections: In 12th Lok Sabha poll, Revolutionary Socialist Party candidate defated Bharatiya Janta Party candidate in one-sided contest. Here, RSP candidate Sanat Kumar Mandal attained 406745 votes and BJP's Krishnapada Majumdar bagged 230684 votes.
• 1996 Lok Sabha Elections: In 11th Lok Sabha poll, Revolutionary Socialist Party candidate defated Indian National Congress candidate in one-sided contest. Here, RSP candidate Sanat Kumar Mandal attained 418373 votes and INC's Jogesh Roy bagged 274446 votes.
• 1991 Lok Sabha Elections: In 10th Lok Sabha poll, Revolutionary Socialist Party candidate defated Indian National Congress candidate in one-sided contest. Here, RSP candidate Sanat Kumar Mandal attained 338408 votes and INC's Naraiyan Naskar bagged 206103 votes.
• 1989 Lok Sabha Elections: In Ninth Lok Sabha election, Revolutionary Socialist Party candidate had defeated Indian National Congress candidate by a margin of 63807 votes RSP candidate Sanat Kumar Mandal had got 337611 while INC got Ardhendu Sekhar Naskar votes.
• 1984 Lok Sabha Elections: In 8th Lok Sabha election, Revolutionary Socialist Party candidate defeated Indian National Congress candidate with a difference of 20449 votes. Here, Revolutionary Socialist Party leader Sant Kumar Manda attained 264406 votes and Indian National Congress candidate Ardhendu Sekhar Naskar bagged 243957 votes
• 1980 Lok Sabha Elections: In 7th Lok Sabha election, Revolutionary Socialist Party candidate defeated Indian National Congress candidate with a difference of 48529 votes. Here, Revolutionary Socialist Party leader Sanat Kumar Mandal attained 236044 votes and Indian National Congress candidate Gobinda Chandra Naskar bagged 187515 votes
• 1977 Lok Sabha Elections: In Sixth Lok Sabha election, BLD candidate had defeated INC candidate by a margin of 60637 votes BLD candidate Sakti Kumar Sarkar had got 180587 while INC got Nirmal Kanti Mondal votes.
• 1971 Lok Sabha Elections: In Fifth Lok Sabha election, Indian National Congress candidate had defeated CPM candidate by a margin of 74236 votes INC candidate Sakti Kumar Sarkar had got 158943 while CPM got Nirmal Kumar Sinha votes.
• 1967 Lok Sabha Elections: In Fourth Lok Sabha election, Independent candidate defeated INC candidate with a difference of 29071 votes. Here, Independent leader C. Roy attained 157545 votes and INC candidate P. Koyal bagged 128474 votes
• 1962 Lok Sabha Elections: In Third Lok Sabha election, Indian National Congress candidate defeated CPI candidate with a difference of 18771 votes. Here, Indian National Congress leader Paresh Nath Kayal attained 152372 votes and CPI candidate Sailendra Nath Haldar bagged 133601 votes
