Jahanabad: In the 2014 Lok Sabha polls, Dr. Arun Kumar from Rashtriya Lok Samta Party (RLSP) won the elections by a margin of 42340 votes. The polling / voting in Jahanabad constituency in the 2019 General elections took place in Phase 7 on 19 May. The major contest is between Janata Dal (United)#s Chandreshwar Prasad Chandravanshi and Rashtriya Janata Dal#s Surendra Yadav

In the 2014 Lok Sabha polls, Bharatiya Janata Party won 22 out of the 40 parliamentary seat with 29.4 percent vote share while the Lok Janshakti Party managed to win just 6 seats with a 6.4 percent vote share.

• 1999 Lok Sabha Elections: In 13th Lok Sabha election, Janata Dal (United) candidate defeated Rashtriya Janata Dal candidate with a difference of 17287 votes. Here, Janata Dal (United) leader Arun Kumar attained 333332 votes and Rashtriya Janata Dal candidate Surendra Prasad Yadav bagged 316045 votes
• 1998 Lok Sabha Elections: In 12th Lok Sabha election, Rashtriya Janata Dal candidate had defeated SAP candidate by a margin of 58907 votes RJD candidate Surendra Prasad Yadav had got 355322 while SAP got Arun Kumar votes.
• 1996 Lok Sabha Elections: In 11th Lok Sabha election, Communist Party of India (Marxist) candidate had defeated Indian National Congress candidate by a margin of 95650 votes CPI candidate Ramashraya Prasad Singh had got 281157 while INC got Jagdish Sharma votes.
• 1991 Lok Sabha Elections: In 10th Lok Sabha election, Communist Party of India (Marxist) candidate defeated Indian National Congress candidate with a difference of 34991 votes. Here, Communist Party of India (Marxist) leader Ramramasharay Prasad Singh attained 332484 votes and Indian National Congress candidate Mahendra Prasad bagged 297493 votes
• 1989 Lok Sabha Elections: In Ninth Lok Sabha election, Communist Party of India (Marxist) candidate had defeated Indian National Congress candidate by a margin of 72901 votes CPI candidate Ramashray Prasad Singh had got 286800 while INC got Shyamnandan Mishra votes.
• 1984 Lok Sabha Elections: In 8th Lok Sabha election, Communist Party of India (Marxist) candidate defeated Indian National Congress candidate with a difference of 30976 votes. • 1977 Lok Sabha Elections: In Sixth Lok Sabha election, BLD candidate defated INC candidate in one-sided contest. Here, BLD candidate Hari Lal Prasad Sinha attained 317954 votes and INC's Chandrika Prasad Yadav bagged 66984 votes.
• 1971 Lok Sabha Elections: In Fifth Lok Sabha election, Communist Party of India (Marxist) candidate defeated BJS candidate with a difference of 22418 votes. Here, Communist Party of India (Marxist) leader Chandra Shekhar Sinha attained 163733 votes and BJS candidate Vivekanand Sharma bagged 141315 votes
• 1967 Lok Sabha Elections: In Fourth Lok Sabha election, Communist Party of India (Marxist) candidate had defeated INC candidate by a margin of 51412 votes CPI candidate C. S. Singh had got 112287 while INC got S. Devi votes.
• 1962 Lok Sabha Elections: In Third Lok Sabha election, Indian National Congress candidate defeated CPI candidate with a difference of 34829 votes. Here, Indian National Congress leader Satyabhama Devi attained 73893 votes and CPI candidate Chandra Shekhar Singh bagged 39064 votes
