Jagatsinghpur: In the 2014 Lok Sabha polls, Kulamani Samal from Biju Janata Dal (BJD) won the elections by a margin of 276394 votes. The polling / voting in Jagatsinghpur constituency in the 2019 General elections took place in Phase 4 on 29 April. The major contest is between Bharatiya Janata Party#s Bibhu Prasad Tarai and Biju Janata Dal#s Rajashree Mallick

In the 2014 Lok Sabha polls, Biju Janata Dal won 20 out of the 21 parliamentary seat with 44.1 percent vote share while the Bharatiya Janata Party managed to win just 1 seats with a 21.5 percent vote share.

  • 1998 Lok Sabha Elections: In 12th Lok Sabha election, Indian National Congress candidate defeated Biju Janata Dal candidate with a difference of 19929 votes. Here, Indian National Congress leader Ranjib Biswal attained 337492 votes and Biju Janata Dal candidate Trilochan Kanungo bagged 317563 votes
  • 1996 Lok Sabha Elections: In 11th Lok Sabha election, Indian National Congress candidate defeated JD candidate with a difference of 47278 votes. Here, Indian National Congress leader Ranjib Biswal attained 365157 votes and JD candidate Nityananda Samntaray bagged 317879 votes
  • 1991 Lok Sabha Elections: In 10th Lok Sabha election, Communist Party of India (Marxist) candidate defeated Indian National Congress candidate with a difference of 17025 votes. Here, Communist Party of India (Marxist) leader Loknath Choudhury attained 321635 votes and Indian National Congress candidate Nityananda Samantaray bagged 304610 votes
  • 1989 Lok Sabha Elections: In Ninth Lok Sabha poll, Communist Party of India (Marxist) candidate defated Indian National Congress candidate in one-sided contest. Here, CPI candidate Lokanath Choudhary attained 408057 votes and INC's Basudev Mohapatra bagged 259921 votes.
