India gives Pak dossier on JeM's role in terror attack; demands return of IAF pilot

Background

Eluru: In the 2014 Lok Sabha polls, Maganti Venkateswara Rao (Babu) from Telugu Desam Party (TDP) won the elections by a margin of 101926 votes. The polling / voting in Eluru constituency in the 2019 General elections took place in Phase 1 on 11 April. The major contest is between Telugu Desam Party#s Maganthi Venkateswara Rao and YSR Congress Party#s Kotagiri Sridhar

Eluru 2014 Lok Sabha Polls

In the 2014 Lok Sabha polls, Telugu Desam Party won 15 out of the 25 parliamentary seat with 29.1 percent vote share while the YSR Congress Party managed to win just 8 seats with a 28.9 percent vote share.

Voter turnout in the 2014 Lok Sabha elections in Eluru Lok Sabha Lok Sabha constituency. The total voter turnout was 84.17% Lok Sabha percent with 84.54% Lok Sabha percent male voters turning out to cast their votes. Meanwhile, 83.80% Lok Sabha percent of the women voters cast their votes and 7544 Lok Sabha voters pressed on the NOTA

Out of the 15 Lok Sabha candidates who contested the 2014 Lok Sabha elections from Eluru, 13 had to deposit their security. The voters gave their mandate in favour of Maganti Venkateswara Rao (Babu) of the Telugu Desam Party as he defeated Thota Chandra Sekhar by a margin of 101926 votes.

  • 2004 Lok Sabha Elections: In 14th Lok Sabha poll, Indian National Congress candidate defated Telugu Desam Party candidate in one-sided contest. Here, INC candidate Kavuru Samba Siva Rao attained 499191 votes and TDP's Bolla Bulli Ramaiah bagged 375900 votes.
  • 1999 Lok Sabha Elections: In 13th Lok Sabha election, Telugu Desam Party candidate had defeated Indian National Congress candidate by a margin of 62231 votes TDP candidate Bolla Bulli Ramaiah had got 435884 while INC got Maganti Venkateswara Rao (Babu) votes.
  • 1998 Lok Sabha Elections: In 12th Lok Sabha election, Indian National Congress candidate defeated Telugu Desam Party candidate with a difference of 23807 votes. Here, Indian National Congress leader Maganti Venkateswara Rao (Babu) attained 385412 votes and Telugu Desam Party candidate Bolla Bulli Ramaiah bagged 361605 votes
  • 1996 Lok Sabha Elections: In 11th Lok Sabha election, interesting battle could be seen between Telugu Desam Party and Indian National Congress here Telugu Desam Party candidate defeated his Indian National Congress counterpart with a difference of 1635 votes.
  • 1991 Lok Sabha Elections: In 10th Lok Sabha election, Telugu Desam Party candidate defeated Indian National Congress candidate with a difference of 47655 votes. Here, Telugu Desam Party leader Bolla Bulliramaiah attained 360312 votes and Indian National Congress candidate Krishna bagged 312657 votes
  • 1989 Lok Sabha Elections: In Ninth Lok Sabha election, Indian National Congress candidate had defeated Telugu Desam Party candidate by a margin of 71407 votes INC candidate Krishana had got 410708 while TDP got Bolla Bulli Ramalah votes.
  • 1984 Lok Sabha Elections: In 8th Lok Sabha poll, Telugu Desam Party candidate defated Indian National Congress candidate in one-sided contest. Here, TDP candidate Bolla Bulli Ramaiah attained 351340 votes and INC's Vatti Venkata Ranga Partha Sarathi bagged 239688 votes.
  • 1980 Lok Sabha Elections: In 7th Lok Sabha poll, Indian National Congress candidate defated JNP candidate in one-sided contest. Here, INC(I) candidate Chittoori Subbarao Chowdary attained 266805 votes and JNP's K.Suryanarayana bagged 83470 votes.
  • 1977 Lok Sabha Elections: In Sixth Lok Sabha poll, Indian National Congress candidate defated BLD candidate in one-sided contest. Here, INC candidate Kommareddy Suryanarayana attained 290410 votes and BLD's Krishna Murthy Garapati bagged 156377 votes.
  • 1971 Lok Sabha Elections: In Fifth Lok Sabha poll, Indian National Congress candidate defated CPI candidate in one-sided contest. Here, INC candidate Kommareddi Suryanarayana attained 235933 votes and CPI's V. V. G. Tilak bagged 60878 votes.
  • 1967 Lok Sabha Elections: In Fourth Lok Sabha election, interesting battle could be seen between Indian National Congress and CPI here Indian National Congress candidate defeated his CPI counterpart with a difference of 1953 votes.
  • 1962 Lok Sabha Elections: In Third Lok Sabha election, interesting battle could be seen between Communist Party of India (Marxist) and INC here Communist Party of India (Marxist) candidate defeated his INC counterpart with a difference of 1469 votes.
  • 1957 Lok Sabha Elections: In Second Lok Sabha election, interesting battle could be seen between Indian National Congress and CPI here Indian National Congress candidate defeated his CPI counterpart with a difference of 5220 votes.
  • 1951 Lok Sabha Elections: In India's Very First Lok Sabha Polls, Communist Party of India (Marxist) candidate defeated INC candidate with a difference of 35900 votes. Here, Communist Party of India (Marxist) leader K. Subha Rao attained 187822 votes and INC candidate C. Ammanaraja bagged 151922 votes
