Diamond Harbour: In the 2014 Lok Sabha polls, Abhishek Banerjee from All India Trinamool Congress (AITC) won the elections by a margin of 71298 votes. The polling / voting in Diamond Harbour constituency in the 2019 General elections took place in Phase 7 on 19 May. The major contest is between Bharatiya Janata Party#s Nilanjan Roy and All India Trinamool Congress#s Abhishek Banerjee

Diamond Harbour 2014 Lok Sabha Polls

In the 2014 Lok Sabha polls, All India Trinamool Congress won 34 out of the 42 parliamentary seat with 39.8 percent vote share while the Communist Party of India (Marxist) managed to win just 2 seats with a 23 percent vote share.

Voter turnout in the 2014 Lok Sabha elections in Diamond Harbour Lok Sabha Lok Sabha constituency. The total voter turnout was 81.06% Lok Sabha percent with 83.74% Lok Sabha percent male voters turning out to cast their votes. Meanwhile, 78.12% Lok Sabha percent of the women voters cast their votes and 10657 Lok Sabha voters pressed on the NOTA

Out of the 16 Lok Sabha candidates who contested the 2014 Lok Sabha elections from Diamond Harbour, 14 had to deposit their security. The voters gave their mandate in favour of Abhishek Banerjee of the All India Trinamool Congress as he defeated Dr. Abul Hasnat by a margin of 71298 votes.

  • 2004 Lok Sabha Elections: In 14th Lok Sabha poll, Communist Party of India candidate defated All India Trinamool Congress candidate in one-sided contest. Here, CPM candidate Samik Lahiri attained 430890 votes and AITC's Saugata Roy bagged 277106 votes.
  • 1999 Lok Sabha Elections: In 13th Lok Sabha election, Communist Party of India candidate had defeated All India Trinamool Congress candidate by a margin of 71163 votes CPM candidate Samik Lahiri had got 402761 while AITC got Sardar Amjad Ali votes.
  • 1998 Lok Sabha Elections: In 12th Lok Sabha election, Communist Party of India candidate had defeated WBTC candidate by a margin of 60956 votes CPM candidate Samik Lahiri had got 405048 while WBTC got Kakoli Ghosh Dastidar votes.
  • 1996 Lok Sabha Elections: In 11th Lok Sabha election, Communist Party of India candidate defeated Indian National Congress candidate with a difference of 22526 votes. Here, Communist Party of India leader Samik Lahiri attained 411844 votes and Indian National Congress candidate Amjad Ali Sardar bagged 389318 votes
  • 1991 Lok Sabha Elections: In 10th Lok Sabha election, Communist Party of India candidate defeated Indian National Congress candidate with a difference of 45512 votes. Here, Communist Party of India leader Amal Dutta attained 338884 votes and Indian National Congress candidate Maya Ghosh (W) bagged 293372 votes
  • 1989 Lok Sabha Elections: In Ninth Lok Sabha election, Communist Party of India candidate defeated Indian National Congress candidate with a difference of 43045 votes. Here, Communist Party of India leader Amal Datta attained 374532 votes and Indian National Congress candidate Maya Ghosh bagged 331487 votes
  • 1984 Lok Sabha Elections: In 8th Lok Sabha election, interesting battle could be seen between Communist Party of India and Indian National Congress here Communist Party of India candidate defeated his Indian National Congress counterpart with a difference of 4673 votes.
  • 1980 Lok Sabha Elections: In 7th Lok Sabha poll, Communist Party of India candidate defated Indian National Congress candidate in one-sided contest. Here, CPM candidate Jyotirmoy Basu attained 310406 votes and INC(I)'s A.K.M. Ishaque bagged 164474 votes.
  • 1977 Lok Sabha Elections: In Sixth Lok Sabha poll, Communist Party of India candidate defated INC candidate in one-sided contest. Here, CPM candidate Jyotirmoy Basu attained 267890 votes and INC's Biren Mahanti bagged 111486 votes.
  • 1971 Lok Sabha Elections: In Fifth Lok Sabha election, Communist Party of India candidate had defeated INC candidate by a margin of 73336 votes CPM candidate Jyotirmoy Basu had got 204987 while INC got Ambar Prosad Bandopadhaya votes.
  • 1967 Lok Sabha Elections: In Fourth Lok Sabha election, Communist Party of India candidate had defeated INC candidate by a margin of 70974 votes CPM candidate J. Basu had got 196176 while INC got S. B. Das votes.
  • 1957 Lok Sabha Elections: In Second Lok Sabha election, Communist Party of India (Marxist) candidate defeated INC candidate with a difference of 11593 votes. Here, Communist Party of India (Marxist) leader Kansari Halder attained 247785 votes and INC candidate Nalini Kanta Halder bagged 236192 votes
  • 1951 Lok Sabha Elections: In India's Very First Lok Sabha Polls, Communist Party of India (Marxist) candidate defeated INC candidate with a difference of 22305 votes. Here, Communist Party of India (Marxist) leader Basu Kamal attained 120982 votes and INC candidate Prosad Mahabir bagged 98677 votes
