Bhagalpur: In the 2014 Lok Sabha polls, Shailesh Kumar Urph Bulo Mandal from Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) won the elections by a margin of 9485 votes. The polling / voting in Bhagalpur constituency in the 2019 General elections took place in Phase 2 on 18 April. The major contest is between Janata Dal (United)#s Ajay Kumar Mandal and Rashtriya Janata Dal#s Bulo Mandal

Bhagalpur 2014 Lok Sabha Polls

In the 2014 Lok Sabha polls, Bharatiya Janata Party won 22 out of the 40 parliamentary seat with 29.4 percent vote share while the Lok Janshakti Party managed to win just 6 seats with a 6.4 percent vote share.

Out of the 18 Lok Sabha candidates who contested the 2014 Lok Sabha elections from Bhagalpur, 16 had to deposit their security. The voters gave their mandate in favour of Shailesh Kumar Urph Bulo Mandal of the Rashtriya Janata Dal as he defeated Syed Shahnawaz Hussain by a margin of 9485 votes.

  • 2004 Lok Sabha Elections: In 14th Lok Sabha poll, Bharatiya Janta Party candidate defated Communist Party of India candidate in one-sided contest. Here, BJP candidate Sushil Kumar Modi attained 345151 votes and CPM's Subodh Ray bagged 227298 votes.
  • 1999 Lok Sabha Elections: In 13th Lok Sabha election, Communist Party of India candidate defeated Bharatiya Janta Party candidate with a difference of 45540 votes. Here, Communist Party of India leader Subodh Ray attained 321159 votes and Bharatiya Janta Party candidate Prabhash Chandra Tiwari bagged 275619 votes
  • 1998 Lok Sabha Elections: In 12th Lok Sabha election, Bharatiya Janta Party candidate had defeated Rashtriya Janata Dal candidate by a margin of 91847 votes BJP candidate Prabhas Chandra Tiwari had got 349463 while RJD got Chun Chun Prasad Yadav votes.
  • 1996 Lok Sabha Elections: In 11th Lok Sabha election, JD candidate had defeated Bharatiya Janta Party candidate by a margin of 53137 votes JD candidate Chunchun Prasad Yadav had got 269927 while BJP got Prabhash Chandra Tiwari votes.
  • 1991 Lok Sabha Elections: In 10th Lok Sabha poll, JD candidate defated Independent candidate in one-sided contest. Here, JD candidate Chunchun Pra. Yadav attained 315292 votes and IND's Sadanand Singh bagged 146668 votes.
  • 1989 Lok Sabha Elections: In Ninth Lok Sabha election, JD candidate defated Indian National Congress candidate in one-sided contest. Here, JD candidate Chun Chun Prasad Yadav attained 547723 votes and INC's Bhagwad Jha Azad bagged 112325 votes.
  • 1984 Lok Sabha Elections: In 8th Lok Sabha election, Indian National Congress candidate defeated LKD candidate with a difference of 30485 votes. Here, Indian National Congress leader Bhagwat Jha Azad attained 228030 votes and LKD candidate Jagesar Mandal bagged 197545 votes
  • 1980 Lok Sabha Elections: In 7th Lok Sabha election, Indian National Congress candidate had defeated JNP(S) candidate by a margin of 76685 votes INC(I) candidate Bhagwat Jha Azad had got 175995 while JNP(S) got Jageshwar Mandal votes.
