Asansol: In the 2014 Lok Sabha polls, Babul Supriya Baral (Babul Supriyo) from Bharatiya Janta Party (BJP) won the elections by a margin of 70480 votes. The polling / voting in Asansol constituency in the 2019 General elections took place in Phase 4 on 29 April. The major contest is between Bharatiya Janata Party#s Babul Supriyo and All India Trinamool Congress#s Sreemati Dev Varma

Asansol 2014 Lok Sabha Polls

In the 2014 Lok Sabha polls, All India Trinamool Congress won 34 out of the 42 parliamentary seat with 39.8 percent vote share while the Communist Party of India (Marxist) managed to win just 2 seats with a 23 percent vote share.

Voter turnout in the 2014 Lok Sabha elections in Asansol Lok Sabha Lok Sabha constituency. The total voter turnout was 77.73% Lok Sabha percent with 79.96% Lok Sabha percent male voters turning out to cast their votes. Meanwhile, 75.12% Lok Sabha percent of the women voters cast their votes and 11479 Lok Sabha voters pressed on the NOTA

Out of the 14 Lok Sabha candidates who contested the 2014 Lok Sabha elections from Asansol, 11 had to deposit their security. The voters gave their mandate in favour of Babul Supriya Baral (Babul Supriyo) of the Bharatiya Janta Party as he defeated Dola Sen by a margin of 70480 votes.

• 2004 Lok Sabha Elections: In 14th Lok Sabha poll, Communist Party of India candidate defated All India Trinamool Congress candidate in one-sided contest. Here, CPM candidate Bikash Chowdhury attained 369832 votes and AITC's Ghatak Moloy bagged 245514 votes.
• 1999 Lok Sabha Elections: In 13th Lok Sabha election, Communist Party of India candidate defeated All India Trinamool Congress candidate with a difference of 37864 votes. Here, Communist Party of India leader Bikash Chowdhury attained 377265 votes and All India Trinamool Congress candidate Ajit Ghatak (Moloy Ghatak) bagged 339401 votes
• 1998 Lok Sabha Elections: In 12th Lok Sabha election, Communist Party of India candidate defeated WBTC candidate with a difference of 26149 votes. Here, Communist Party of India leader Bikash Chowdhury attained 355382 votes and WBTC candidate Ajit Kumar Ghaatak (Moloy Ghaatak) bagged 329233 votes
• 1996 Lok Sabha Elections: In 11th Lok Sabha election, Communist Party of India candidate defeated Indian National Congress candidate with a difference of 46950 votes. Here, Communist Party of India leader Haradhan Roy attained 376806 votes and Indian National Congress candidate Sukumar Bandyopadhyay bagged 329856 votes
• 1991 Lok Sabha Elections: In 10th Lok Sabha election, Communist Party of India candidate had defeated Indian National Congress candidate by a margin of 94858 votes CPM candidate Haradhan Roy had got 316504 while INC got Deba Prasad Roy votes.
• 1989 Lok Sabha Elections: In Ninth Lok Sabha election, Communist Party of India candidate defeated Indian National Congress candidate with a difference of 42237 votes. Here, Communist Party of India leader Haradhan Roy attained 374281 votes and Indian National Congress candidate Pradip Bhattacharjee bagged 332044 votes
• 1984 Lok Sabha Elections: In 8th Lok Sabha election, Indian National Congress candidate had defeated Communist Party of India candidate by a margin of 86666 votes INC candidate Anada Gopal Mukherjee had got 334212 while CPM got Bamapada Mukherjee votes.
• 1980 Lok Sabha Elections: In 7th Lok Sabha election, interesting battle could be seen between Indian National Congress and Communist Party of India here Indian National Congress candidate defeated his Communist Party of India counterpart with a difference of 9652 votes.
• 1977 Lok Sabha Elections: In Sixth Lok Sabha election, Communist Party of India candidate had defeated INC candidate by a margin of 72227 votes CPM candidate Robin Sen had got 163492 while INC got Syed Mohammad Jalal votes.
• 1971 Lok Sabha Elections: In Fifth Lok Sabha election, Communist Party of India candidate defeated INC candidate with a difference of 33660 votes. Here, Communist Party of India leader Robin Sen attained 132268 votes and INC candidate Narayan Choudhury bagged 98608 votes
• 1967 Lok Sabha Elections: In Fourth Lok Sabha election, interesting battle could be seen between SSP and INC here SSP candidate defeated his INC counterpart with a difference of 6992 votes.
• 1962 Lok Sabha Elections: In Third Lok Sabha election, interesting battle could be seen between Indian National Congress and CPI here Indian National Congress candidate defeated his CPI counterpart with a difference of 8844 votes.
• 1957 Lok Sabha Elections: In Second Lok Sabha election, Indian National Congress candidate had defeated IND candidate by a margin of 60348 votes INC candidate Mono Mohan Das had got 186374 while IND got Ambuja Bhusan Bose votes.
