Arani: In the 2014 Lok Sabha polls, V.Elumalai from All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (ADMK) won the elections by a margin of 243844 votes. The polling / voting in Arani constituency in the 2019 General elections took place in Phase 2 on 18 April. The major contest is between All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam#s V. Elumalai and Congress Party#s Dr. M.k vishnu prasad

In the 2014 Lok Sabha polls, All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam won 37 out of the 39 parliamentary seat with 44.3 percent vote share while the Bharatiya Janata Party managed to win just 1 seats with a 5.5 percent vote share.

The BJP on Wednesday released a list of six candidates for the coming Lok Sabha elections in Uttar Pradesh and Maharashtra, dropping sitting MP Kirit Somaiya from Mumbai North East constituency and fielding in his place Manoj Kotak. The saffron party also gave a ticket to Bhojpuri actor Dinesh Lal Yadav 'Nirhua' from Azamgarh in Uttar Pradesh.
