World University Rankings 2019: The list of Times Higher Education World University Ranking 2019 has been released. The list includes a total of 1250 varsities across the world, including 49 Indian Institutes. The list has the names of the universities along with the positions that they hold for the year 2019. Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bangalore is at the topmost position among Indian Universities, while Oxford University, United Kingdom has topped the global ranking. However, shockingly all Indian universities on the list hold positions after rank 250, with no Indian varsity able to make it to the top 250 global colleges. Even the ranking of Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Bombay witnessed a drop as compared to the previous year's ranking. But impressively, IIT Indore has made a debut to the list with surprisingly securing the second top position among Indian institutes. Among the creamy layer of higher education institutes of India, IIT Indore is leading ahead of IIT Bombay, IIT Roorkee, IIT Kanpur, IIT Delhi and IIT Kharagpur. Taking a note of the same, Minister of Human Resource Development of India, Prakash Javedkar took to Twitter and said, "India’s 33 institutes have found place in 1000 best of the world institutes in The World University Rankings @THEworldunirank . Last year there were only 30 Indian institutes."
